Woodbine’s 2nd Should Provide Overlaid Horse Racing Odds
September 9, 2010
Race 2 at Woodbine Racecourse on September 2nd, should provide more than a couple of equines with overlaid horse racing odds.
That’s music to the ears of horseplayers that may or may not be crying at the fact that the Saratoga meet ended this past Monday. The best track on the East Coast running races right now (well, at least until the Belmont’s fall meet starts this Saturday) is Woodbine in Ontario, Canada.

An overlay is an overlay whether it’s found in Canada or in New York. I’m hoping I’ve found the right overlay to bet in Race 2 at Woodbine on Wednesday.
Woodbine Racecourse - Wednesday

7 furlongs over turf
4 – Bold Maneuver – - 15/1 morning line odds
There doesn’t appear to be a lot of speed in this race. Because of that, I have to take a shot on Bold Maneuver at those 15/1 overlaid horse racing odds. Bold Maneuver probably won’t go off at 15/1 to in this but I doubt she’ll go off at less than double-digit odds.
The 5-year-old daughter of Bold Executive finished 8th and lost by 14 lengths in her last, but look back two races and it’s apparent that she’s much better than that. With jockey Omar Moreno on her back, Bold Maneuver took the lead and won by 5 ½ lengths at this distance and over this turf course.
She’s won 3 out of 7 over Woodbine’s turf course and is 2 out of 3 at this 7 furlong distance. Moreno jumps on board for this race making Bold Maneuver a terrific wager at the odds to win the second at Woodbine on Wednesday.
3 – Rizzi Rose – - 3/1 morning line odds
The likely chalk might go off at much lower than 3/1 in this race. Rizzi Rose lost by only a neck in an allowance in her last. Out of the powerful Stronach Stable, Rose broke her maiden going this distance and on this turf course, but she hasn’t run since September of 2009.
That makes her a difficult horse to put on top in this although there’s no doubting that she should factor into the exotics. She’s an overlay at 3/1. At 2/1, which are the odds I expect her to go off at, she’s an underlay.
9-Valli With A Vow – - 4/1 morning line odds
Valli With A Vow goes into this off of a second place finish at 6 ½ furlongs over the main track. The daughter of Broken Vow lost that race by 6 ¾ lengths, but she had to go 4 to 6 wide around the turn and was the only one making up ground on the winner.
She should be tighter for this, but the return to turf might not help her as much as some horseplayers believe. She’s still a must use on the bottom of the exacta because jockey Patrick Husbands is very successful at Woodbine.
Horse Wagering Strategy
This is a crazy, deep race. I’m going to bet on Bold Maneuver to win, place and show.
I will also bet a small exacta box with Bold Maneuver, Valli With A Vow and Rizzi Rose. Because of how deep this race is if the exacta comes in at any combination, it should pay at overlaid horse racing odds.
Good luck!
