Wolverines Finally Face a True NCAAF Betting Dog
October 9, 2010
QB Denard Robinson and the Michigan Wolverines finally face a true NCAAF betting dog with a shot in the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday, Oct. 9th.
The Wolvies are 4-point favorites to beat their intra-state rivals. A lot of the favoritism has to do with Heisman Trophy candidate (some might say favorite!) QB Denard Robinson who has passed for 1008 yards and 7 touchdowns and has rushed for 905 yards and 8 touchdowns.

Those stats are simply unreal. Do the Michigan State Spartans have any shot of slowing down the train that is Denard Robinson and covering versus the NCAAF betting point spread odds?

NCAAF Betting Lines
Michigan State Spartans +4 -110
Michigan Wolverines -4 -110
The NCAAF betting online trends favor neither team against the spread in this game.
- The Michigan State Spartans are 1 and 5 ATS in their last 6 games as an underdog on the road.
- The Michigan State Spartans are 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 games following an ATS victory.
- The Michigan Wolverines are 4 and 12 ATS in their last 16 games as the favorite.
- The Michigan Wolverines are 1 and 4 ATS versus a team with a winning record.
Obviously, the trends are useless when it comes to figuring out what NCAAF betting prediction to make for this game. Neither the Wolverines nor the Spartans appear to be the team to back, but the Wolverines might have a slight edge in the sense that they are playing at home and do have Denard Robinson on their team.
Then again, Michigan State has played with more heart this season, especially after coach Mark D’Antonio suffered a heart attack, than any team in college football. With D’Antonio in the booth, the Spartans rocked and socked a decent Wisconsin Badgers’ squad 34 to 24 as 3-point favorites last Saturday.
It was an impressive victory for the Spartans who no doubt have an offense that could seriously take apart that Michigan defense. Michigan’s D, since allowing Connecticut to score only 10 points against them in Week 1, has been downright pathetic. The Wolvies have given up 21 to Notre Dame, 37 to Massachusetts, 21 to Bowling Green and 35 to Indiana in their last 4 games.
As good as Denard Robinson is (and he’s pretty freakin’ good!), I wonder if the Wolverines luck might run out on them this Saturday. Michigan State’s D, although not great, might be able to get a couple of stops versus Robinson, and the Spartans’ offense, which averages 460.6 yards per game, should have a field day against the Wolverines’ porous front seven.
If that happens, then D’Antonio and the Spartans might actually find a way to pull off the upset much less cover the NFL betting latest line spread. I suppose what this game comes down to is the fact that Michigan has been winning, save for the game against Ball State, strictly because of Denard Robinson’s play. Robinson was the main difference for Michigan in the Notre Dame game, the UMass game and the Indiana game.
With an offense that can score as many points as Michigan’s, the Spartans average 36.2 points per contest, and a defense that could possibly get one or two extra stops in this game, Michigan State is poised to upset the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday.
The Spartans are definitely a good NCAAF betting against the spread wager to cover the 4 points this Saturday because their offense can score with Michigan’s and their defense might be good enough to get an extra stop or two.
