With Locker Out, Oregon is a Heavy Football Game Odds Fave to Punish Washington

November 6, 2010

Because Washington QB Jake Locker is out, the Oregon Ducks are heavy 35 ½ point football game odds favorites to absolutely manhandle the Washington Huskies this Saturday.

Oregon finally ascended to #1 in the BSC rankings after trouncing the USC Trojans 53 to 32 as -6 point road favorites last Saturday.  The Ducks are 8 and 0 straight up and 6 and 2 versus the spread.  Can the Ducks make it 7 and 2 ATS when they host the Washington Huskies on Nov. 6th?

The betting trends clearly favor the Ducks in this game.

  • The Oregon Ducks are 11 and 5 ATS in their last 16 conference games.
  • The Favorite is 7 and 0 ATS in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.
  • The Washington Huskies are 1 and 4 ATS versus a team with a winning record.
  • The Washington Huskies are 3 and 11 ATS in their last 14 road games versus a team with a winning home record.

35 ½ points seems like a lot, doesn’t it?  The football game odds makers sure didn’t hold back this week but even 35 ½ points might not be enough for the sportsbook to receive action on both sides of this game.

75% of football handicappers believe that the amazing Ducks will cover the 5 touchdown spread on Saturday.  75%.  That’s a big number as well and I don’t believe I can go against 75% of my peers in this one. Simply put, the Washington Huskies only chance of covering a spread in any game, much less one against Oregon, always rides on the arm of QB Jake Locker.  Without Locker in the game the Huskies might not “even score” according to my boy Halestorm and I have to agree with the guy.  The Huskies might not score because not only is Locker out, but get this, Washington has been outscored 14 to 85 in their last 2 games!  The losses include getting smacked 0 to 41 versus Stanford at home after Locker got hurt.

Heck, Arizona beat Washington 44 to 14 and Locker was in the game long enough to throw 29 passes.  The bottom line is that Washington is a bad team with Jake Locker under center. They’re a horrible, god-awful team on the level of the worst sub-division team when Jake Locker isn’t under center.

Oregon should be up by around 40 points at halftime.  The Ducks average 55 points per game.  They average 575 yards per game.  The Ducks haven’t scored less than 42 points in a single game this season.  They racked up 52 against Stanford’s very good defense and 53 versus USC’s decent defense.  Oregon is simply the best team in college football and should show it again versus the Washington Huskies on Saturday.

This one is almost a no-brainer.  Don’t let the football game odds confuse you.  The Oregon Ducks will absolutely demolish the Washington Huskies on Saturday.  I see Oregon laying at least 60 on Washington and possibly close to 70 while Washington will be lucky to score double-digits against the Ducks.
