WGC Golf Betting – Odds to Win Brackets

February 26, 2009

The WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship will be held at The Gallery Golf Club at Dove Mountain in Marana, AZ for a purse of $8,500,000 this week.

The WGC is unlike most PGA Tournaments because it’s a match play tournament. Match-play is scored differently than regular play tournaments. The advantage to BetOnline Sportsbook fans is that the sportsbook offers bets that they usually wouldn’t offer in a straight forward tournament.

One of those betting offers is to pick the winner to win in each bracket.

Let’s analyze the To Win in each bracket.

WGC To Win Bracket

Bobby Jones Bracket – - Tiger is the chalk at +125 but Camilo Villegas has a definite chance at +700. The other golfers that could prove tough are Mike Weir at +1000 and Retief Goosen at +1500. This is t he toughest bracket to find a winner because if you choose anybody except Tiger you’re playing with fire. I like to play with fire. I’m going with Villegas.

Pick: Camilo Villegas at +700

Ben Hogan Bracket – - This is a terrific bracket to find a long shot because Phil Mickelson is the +285 favorite. Lefty won last week which means he probably doesn’t play all that well this week. I’m going against him with Angel Cabrera at +1500 even though Lee Westwood at +700 and Vijay Singh and Luke Donald at +800 all have a huge shot.

Pick: Angel Cabrera at +1500

Gary Player Bracket – - Sergio Garcia shows up as the chalk in this at +285 but Kenny Perry at +700 and Adam Scott at +500 look to give Sergio a run for his money. Out of all of the favorites, I have to say that Sergio is probably the safest bet but I can’t look past Perry at those odds. I’ll take Kenny as an upset pick at +700.

Pick: Kenny Perry at +700

Sam Snead Bracket - – This is a tough bracket to pick the winner because both Padraig Harrington and Anthony Kim show up in this. Harrington is going off at +500 and Kim is going off at +400. The other chalk is Henrik Stenson at +400. I don’t think anybody else in this bracket has a shot. To me, it comes down to Kim and Harrington. I’m going with Harrington at +500 because his odds are slightly better than Kim’s.

Pick: Padraig Harrington at +500
