WGC Cadillac Championship – 72 Hole Group Betting
March 12, 2011
The field for the WGC Cadillac Championship is so deep that the odds makers have created 72 Hole Group Betting lines in the online sportsbook for six different groups.
I’m just going to take a look at the groups where I believe value can be found on one of the golfers. Those groups are Group A, Group B, Group C, and Group E. Keep reading for free picks from those groups in the 72 Hole Group Betting category!
Golf: WGC Cadillac Championship
Where: TPC Blue Monster at Doral, Doral, Florida
When: March 9 thru March 11, 2011
Par/Yardage: par 72, 7,266 yards
TV: Golf Channel, NBC
Group A: Martin Kaymer +225, Tiger Woods +300, Graeme McDowell +330, Phil Mickelson +350, Lee Westwood +350
Analysis: I don’t even need to do too much research regarding this online golf sportsbook wager. Why? I don’t have to do too much research because I know that the man going off at overlaid odds in this group is Graeme McDowell. McDowell should be at +300, not Tiger Woods. McDowell has been sensational so far in 2011, actually better than the favored Kaymer. I have to back Graeme at +330 in Group A.
Pick: Graeme McDowell
Group B: Alvaro Quiros +225, Rory McIlroy +250, Geoff Ogilvy +330, Dustin Johnson +330, Vijay Singh +350
Analysis: There’s an overlaid bet available in Group B as well. Quiros is the deserving favorite. After all, he did win the Dubai Desert Classic and he did finish second at the Qatar Masters, but Vijay is going off at higher odds than anybody else in this group even though he finished eleventh at the 2010 WGC Cadillac Championship. DJ finished fifty-sixth and Ogilvy finished forty-fifth. I’ve got to back Mr. Singh, don’t I?
Pick: Vijay Singh
Group C: Nick Watney +250, Paul Casey +300, Luke Donald +330, Matt Kuchar +330, Charl Schwartzel +350
Analysis: Where’s the love for Matty K. in this group? I understand that Watney has to be the dude going off at the lowest golf odds in Group C. Nick hasn’t finished out of the Top 10 yet this year but Kuchar finished third at the WGC-Accenture and has four Top 10 finishes out of six tournaments played in 2011. What about Casey, Donald and Schwartzel? Who cares when I can get Matty K. at +330 to beat just four other guys on the course this week?
Pick: Matt Kuchar
Group E: Ian Poulter +300, Retief Goosen +300, Justin Rose +320, Ernie Els +320, Rickie Fowler +350
Analysis: I can’t believe the odds on both Fowler and Els to win this group. The Bird missed the cut at the Honda Classic but before that he had finished ninth at the WGC-Accenture. He also finished thirteenth at the Phoenix Open. Els is the defending WGC Cadillac Championship winner. Either guy deserves consideration but Fowler is the one to back given the fact that he’s going off at +350 to win Group E.
Pick: Rickie Fowler
