West Coast Ball – Toronto Blue Jays at Los Angeles Angels
May 8, 2009
The Toronto Blue Jays and L.A. Angels face each other in the second game of a two game series on Thursday night with roles reversed, so far, this season. Toronto is the better team straight-up at 20 and 10. They send pitcher Robert Ray to the mound. Ray hasn’t been all that fantastic in 2009 in the five innings he has pitched. His ERA is 4.76 and his WHIP is 1.41.
The Angels counter with pitcher Jered Weaver. Weaver is 2 and 1 on the season with an ERA of 3.13 and a fantastic WHIP of 1.17.
Here is the BetOnline online sportsbook betting line for this game.

Here are a few online wagering trends for this game.
The Toronto Blue Jays are 5 and 1 in their last 6 games overall.
The Toronto Blue Jays are 5 and 0 in their last 5 games after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game.
The Los Angeles Angels are 25 and 10 in Jered Weaver’s last 35 starts at home.
The Los Angeles Angels are 4 and 1 in their last 5 games when facing a pitcher with a WHIP greater than 1.30.
I’m a huge believer in WHIP and Weaver’s is fantastic while Ray’s is pretty awful. I see Ray trying to pitch well in this game, but failing to go six innings.
If that’s the case, then all I have to do is to decide which wager makes the most sense. Weaver is the favorite on the run line, but giving up 1 ½ runs to a team like Toronto, which is pretty good offensively, is tough to do.
Still, the Angels are going to start to do something right, they’re too talented not to. So, I’ll bet the run line in order to get above even money. Putting up an extra 70 bucks is just too much in my estimation.
I’m wagering on Jered Weaver and the L.A. Angels at -1 ½ +120 on the run line.
