Weekend Stakes Races – Bet the Grade II True North and Grade I Acorn on Saturday

June 5, 2010

Saturday’s Belmont Park card is full of graded stakes races that could lead to huge online betting profits for horseplayers.

The Grade II True North pits some of the best sprinters in the nation against each other.  The Grade I Acorn pits some terrific 3-year old fillies against each other going 1 mile.  The True North is a “figure” race meaning the favorite should win.  The Acorn is ripe for an upset winner.

Hopefully, I’ve found that long shot winner in each one of the races!

Weekend Stakes Races

Belmont Park – Race 8

Grade II True North Handicap

$250,000

For Three Year Olds and Up

6 furlongs over the dirt

There appears to be a ton of speed in this race but really the two fastest horses are probably, well, faster than anybody else in the race.  Custom for Carlos can either take the lead or track Checklist to the top of the stretch.  From there, the son of More Than Ready should be able to hold off the closers.  Custom For Carlos is an extremely classy sort and should win the True North Handicap on Saturday.  Checklist figures to hang on well enough to finish second.  He’ll be fighting Custom for Carlos in the stretch but because he figures to be on the inside, second place might be the best he can do.  For third, Fantasy Free could definitely get there.  The 5-year old gelding sired by Free House goes to the dirt for the first time.  He could really excel over it.

  2. Checklist
  3. Fantasy Free

Alan Garcia takes the call on Much Rejoicing and I’m ecstatic to see that the daughter of Distorted Humor is 10 to 1 on the morning line.  First, she’s undefeated.  Second, she can track the speed of Amen Hallelujah and Tidal Pool.  Finally, she runs for a trainer, James Toner, who’s winning at 33% at the meet.  Much Rejoicing has a huge shot on Saturday.  Seeking the Title lost all chance in the Grade II Dixie Stakes after dropping Kent Desormeaux.  She should be much better in the Acorn Stakes and is still as talented as she was when she won’t off at $2.40 to 1 in the Dixie.  Streaker could be any sort.  The undefeated daughter of Forest Wildcat figures to press for the lead form the outset.  She might actually be faster than both Tidal Pool and Amen Hallelujah making her a serious threat to win it all.

  1. Much Rejoicing
  2. Seeking The Title
  3. Amen Hallelujah

Good luck!
