January 11, 2011
Looking for a few weekend NBA betting tips? You’ve come to the right place, as we get set to talk some hoops with the season heading toward the midway point.
Dallas Mavericks at San Antonio Spurs
Friday, January 14: 8:00 p.m, ESPN, AT&T Arena, San Antonio, TX
Starting on Friday, two of the NBA’s best will square off in a crucial Southwest Division showdown. Who’ll have the edge when the Spurs and Mavs get together?

Likely, it’ll be San Antonio, whose record is second to none in the NBA. The Spurs are playing excellent basketball, especially at home where they entered the week with a 20-2 record. Dallas has the especially unenviable task of playing this one with a less than healthy Dirk Nowitzki, if he plays at all. The 32-year-old perennial All-Star has missed time these last few weeks with injury.
And in the end, especially with Dirk out, there’s no reason not to take San Antonio. They’re playing as well as anyone in the league right now, and at home we just can’t see them losing.
The Pick: San Antonio Spurs

Miami Heat at Chicago Bulls
Saturday, January 15: 8:00 p.m. NBA TV, United Center, Chicago, IL
Moving on to Saturday and heading to the Eastern Conference, two of the best there will do battle when the Heat visit the Bulls in Chicago.
For Miami, we all know the story of their season. After struggling early, the Heat have been on a roll and laying waste to everyone in their path of late. LeBron James has once again proven to be the best player in the NBA, as he’s leading this team with 25 points and over seven assists a ballgame.
But the real star in this game may be Chicago’s Derrick Rose. The MVP candidate is averaging 24 points and eight boards a game, all while leading the Bulls to a surprising 25-12 record, and top spot in the Central Division.
But Rose alone won’t be enough. Miami is simply on a mission right now, and nothing, not even the best point guard in the league, will stop them. When you bet on the NBA this Saturday, Miami is the wager to make.
The Pick: Miami Heat

Los Angeles Lakers at Los Angeles Clippers
Sunday, January 16: 3:30 p.m., the Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA
Closing out the weekend, will there be a more fun game than when the Lakers and Clippers get together with Los Angeles pride on the line?
The Lakers still enter this one as heavy favorites, thanks to a record that places them amongst the elite in the Western Conference. After some bickering amongst players and coaching staff, everyone seems to be on the same page lately. Los Angeles just beat up on the Knicks last weekend.
And really, we see no reason that Sunday will be much different for Los Angeles’ darling and their red-headed stepchild.
Look for the Lakers to control this game early, and dominate late. While the Clippers are improved with a nucleus of young players, they’re still toward the bottom of the standings, and nowhere near the Lakers level yet.
The Pick: Los Angeles Lakers
