Thursday, October 7: 7:30 p.m. ESPN

NCAAF Week 6 Odds:

Nebraska (4-0 SU, 1-2-1 ATS): -12

Kansas State (4-0 SU, 2-2 ATS): +12

The NCAAF Week 6 Preview and Picks starts off early, with the first major matchup of the weekend coming Thursday, when a pair of undefeated teams will do battle. Who should be your pick with first place in the Big XII North on the line, No. 7 Nebraska, or Kansas State?

The oddsmakers like the Cornhuskers, and with good reason, they’re 4-0 and getting it done on both sides of the ball. Nebraska ranks in the Top 15 in both scoring offense (40 points per game) and scoring defense, giving up just 12 points per contest. In their biggest game to date they traveled cross-country and embarrassed the Washington Huskies 56-21.

Don’t sleep on Kansas State though. They, too, are 4-0, and already have a Big XII win under their belts, beating Iowa State 27-20 a few weeks back. They followed it up with a tight win over Central Florida a week later. Their offense is led by running back Daniel Thomas, who ranks fifth in the country with 628 yards on the ground.

Either way, when it comes to bet on NCAA football this Thursday, the play here is Kansas State. Manhattan, KS, is always a tough place to play, and at night, on a Thursday, it’ll be rocking. Nebraska might win straight up, but the college football spreads pick here is Kansas State.

No. 17 Michigan State Spartans at No. 18 Michigan Wolverines

Saturday, October 9: 3:30 p.m. ABC

College Football Week 6 Odds:

Michigan State (5-0 SU, 3-2 ATS): +4 ½

Michigan: (5-0 SU, 3-2 ATS): -4 ½

Much like Thursday night, there will be one less undefeated team after Saturday night, as Michigan State and Michigan both put their unblemished records on the line.

We all know about the Wolverines, and their key to this game, quarterback Denard Robinson. The sophomore is literally running away with this year’s Heisman Trophy, as he leads college football with 905 yards on the ground, and over 1,000 yards passing as well. Wow!

But he’ll be going up against the best run defense he’s seen all year in Michigan State. The Spartans allow just 101 yards rushing per game (20th in the nation), and that’s after allowing 165 yards on the ground to Wisconsin last week. Expect them to come in focused against their big instate rivals.

For all the talk about Michigan’s offense, it will be Michigan State’s that will be the difference. The Spartans are moving the ball impressively themselves, with backs Edwin Baker and Le’Veon Bell, who’ve combined for close to 1,000 yards on the season, and have already each gone over 100 yards in a game twice this season.

Michigan’s offense is the story coming into this one, but Michigan State’s offense will be the difference at the end of the day Saturday. When it comes to the NCAAF Week 6 Previews and Predictions, take the Spartans.

NCAAF Week 6 Free Pick: Michigan State +4 ½

No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide at No. 19 South Carolina Gamecocks

Saturday, October 9: 3:30 p.m. CBS

NCAAF Week 6 Odds:

Alabama (5-0 SU, 4-1 ATS): -7

South Carolina (3-1 SU, 2-2 ATS): +7

Coming off a bye week, the No. 19 South Carolina Gamecocks will be the latest ranked team to take a shot at the Alabama Crimson Tide. As Arkansas and Florida have learned recently, it won’t be easy.
Alabama is simply a juggernaut right now.

With the exception of that game against the Razorbacks, they’ve been annihilating teams, as Saturday’s 31-6 victory over previously No. 7 ranked Florida showed. The Tide clicked on all cylinders in that one, and even rested their starters for large parts of the third quarter.

As for South Carolina, they’ve now had a week to digest all that ailed at Auburn two weeks ago. The biggest problem was at quarterback, where Stephen Garcia had two costly late game fumbles that led to him being replaced by freshman Connor Shaw. While Garcia was named the starter for this one, there’s no doubt that his leash will be extra short.

Really, it doesn’t matter though, because to put it as simply as we can, South Carolina isn’t beating Alabama. Not at home. Not with a national TV audience watching the whole thing. The Tide are simply too good.

And again, they do it on both sides of the ball, averaging over 30 points a game, while ranking No. 1 in scoring defense, giving up less than 10 points a contest.

When looking at the NCAAF Week 6 Previews and Predictions, there’s little reason to think the Tide won’t continue to roll in this one.

NCAAF Week 6 Free Pick: Alabama -7
