Week 4 College Rankings – WAC is all Boise State
September 22, 2009
The WAC has rolled to an impressive 11-8 ATS record so far in out-of-conference games this season, but how do the teams stack up against one another? Find out from BetOnline Sportsbook as we present this week’s WAC Power Poll….
1: Boise State Broncos (3-0 ATS, 3-0 SU) (LW: 1) Last week, the Broncos were an incredibly popular fade against Fresno State. Though the defense showed chinks in the armor for the first time, the offense was fantastic in the 51-34 victory at Bulldogs Stadium. Dating back to last season, Boise State has covered six straight games, the longest streak in the nation now that the Gators were covered by Tennessee last week.
Up Next: Away @ Bowling Green (-17)
2: Idaho Vandals (3-0 ATS, 2-1 SU) (LW: 2) Is it really possible that the Vandals could be bowl eligible this season? Last week was a tremendous one for Idaho, as its 34-20 victory over San Diego State was sweet, and its 42-23 loss to Washington two weeks ago now looks a bit better. There are still five home games left on the slate, and four wins in those five will get the job done. This week, the task seems awfully difficult, though.
Up Next: Away @ Northern Illinois (+15.5)
3: Hawaii Warriors (2-0 ATS, 2-1 SU) (LW: 4) Hawaii may be one of the weakest 2-1 teams in America, but it is still covering spreads left and right this year. Even though they failed to win their game with UNLV outright last week thanks to a late Rebels touchdown, the Warriors were still good enough to stay in front of the touchdown spread. They’ll take a week and a half off before returning to action in a Wednesday night game against LA Tech.
Up Next: Away @ Louisiana Tech
4: Utah State Aggies (2-0 ATS, 0-2 SU) (LW: 5) In the battle of the Aggies, Utah State led Texas A&M 7-0 and 14-7, and it staged a dramatic late comeback from down 38-17 to almost be in a position to pull off the big upset. The 38-30 final score was more than good enough to beat the closing football betting line, and it was also a sign that this program is at least starting to take steps in the right direction.
Up Next: Home vs. Southern Utah (OTB)
5: Fresno State Bulldogs (1-1 ATS, 1-2 SU) (LW: 3) Thanks to this brutal non-conference schedule that HC Pat Hill put together, the Bulldogs may have some trouble reaching bowl eligibility this season. Still, this is a team that no one is going to want to face this year thanks to its explosive offense that dropped 34 points on a strong Boise defense last week. Are you paying attention, Cincinnati?
Up Next: Away @ Cincinnati (+16.5)
6: Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (1-2 ATS, 1-2 SU) (LW:
Louisiana Tech put together its first truly impressive performance of the season when it downed Nichols State 48-13 last week. Now the Techsters will take a week and a half off before preparing for their nationally televised showdown with Hawaii.
Up Next: Home vs. Hawaii
And the rest…
7: San Jose State Spartans (1-2 ATS, 0-3 SU) (LW: 6)
8: Nevada Wolfpack (0-2 ATS, 0-2 SU) (LW: 7)
9: New Mexico State Aztecs (0-3 ATS, 1-2 SU) (LW: 9)
