Wednesday college hoops betting – Temple-Duke and more

February 23, 2011

The Duke Blue Devils, the college hoops betting favorite tonight over the Temple Owls, are back at #1 with their steady play on the season and have almost snuck into the spot despite coming off a national title.

While Duke hasn’t gotten as much publicity, many feel they have as good a shot as anyone to win the title yet again. But some question the strength of the ACC this year as Duke is one of just two ranked squads along with North Carolina.

The Owls on the other hand are ranked #24 and starting to rebuild themselves as a consistent winner.

A road win over Duke would be enormous for their program.

In other action, #21 Missouri takes on a Baylor team that most people have on the outside looking in when it comes to the tournament bubble picture.

Who will bring home a big win on Wednesday?

Temple at Duke, 7 pm ET:

The college hoops betting favorite Blue Devils are 13 ½ point favorites in this one, but Temple does bring a unique defensive style to the table with some zone defense that could fluster Duke a bit.

However, Temple’s Scootie Randall is doubtful with a foot injury and Michael Eric is out for the season with a knee injury.

Randall is maybe Temple’s second-best player and a key forward to match up with Duke’s multitude of versatile scorers.

Duke is also 7-3 ATS in its last 10 games.

College hoops betting pick: Duke

Baylor at Missouri, 9 pm ET:

A Big 12 matchup of two high-octane and athletic teams could come down to who shoots the ball better.

Missouri is favored by 8 ½ in this one and Baylor star guard LaceDarius Dunn has had a hard time finding his usual scoring groove against Missouri in his career.

If Missouri can hold him under 20 points they should win this one with their pressure defense and converting turnovers into easy points on the other end.

College hoops betting pick: Missouri
