March 2, 2011

The race for top seeds in March Madness is coming down to the wire and the Wednesday college hoops betting scene is loaded with matchups featuring ranked teams.

Kansas, the #2 team in the country, has a great opportunity solidify a possible #1 seed in the tournament with a win over #22 Texas A&M tonight at home while West Virginia is looking to solidify their spot in the tournament with a home win over #16 Connecticut.

Who has the edge heading into tonight’s action?

Kansas vs. Texas A&M, 9 pm ET.

It seems as if the more things change in college basketball, the more they stay the same. Here we find the Jayhawks on top of the Big 12 yet again with the Aggies hanging around near the top and ready to get another mid-level tournament seed.

Kansas is favored by 13 in tonight’s college hoops online betting matchup because of their strong home court advantage and dominant history against them.

Kansas is 16-1 all-time against Texas A&M in hoops and has won the last five matchups by an average of more than 12 points.

But Texas A&M is also playing well right now, having won five of six games SU, and they’re trying to lock down the #3 seed in the Big 12 tourney.

Still, the Jayhawks are nearly unbeatable at home and they’re playing for a share of the league title tonight.

That motivation will spur them on to a big victory at home.

Pick: Kansas

Connecticut at WVU, 7 pm ET

Coach Bob Huggins’ Mountaineers have been a bit up and down on the year while Connecticut has had some similar inconsistencies.

But Kemba Walker’s hot shooting all year long has given the Huskies the edge over middle-of-the-pack Big East teams like the Mountaineers.

Connecticut is a 4 1/2-point underdog going into this one, however, because WVU has some long athletes who may be able to frustrate the undersized Walker into bad shots.

The Huskies desperately need someone else to step up and take on some scoring slack in this one.

WVU is 10-2 at home, but they’ve lost 4 of 5 to the Huskies at home as well giving Connecticut the edge going into this one.
