Wednesday College Basketball Betting – Wisconsin and a Big Ten Bubble Matchup
February 9, 2011
The Wisconsin Badgers are cruising to another top-three Big Ten finish, but the college basketball betting world still views them as a second-tier team.
Perhaps it’s the lack of flash, some below-average tournament performances, or some bad luck. But Wisconsin is humming along at 17-5 and coming off a huge win over Michigan State in which they scored almost at will.
The Badgers take on a surprisingly stout Iowa team that is playing for pride tonight. In other Big Ten action, Michigan and Northwestern will battle in Ann Arbor for a right to a position on the bubble, which could be one of the softest in recent years.
Who will come out on top in Wednesday’s college basketball betting action in the Big Ten?

Wisconsin at Iowa, 8:30 pm ET:
The Hawkeyes are 6 1/2-point dogs in this one but they’ve been hanging tough in recent games and they got a big win over MSU recently. Of course, MSU is imploding so perhaps that win isn’t as big as it first looked.
Wisconsin is however playing the most efficient basketball in the Big Ten yet again, even more so than #1 Ohio State according to the statistics.
The Badgers play well both at home and on the road as they boast a big road win over Marquette and have always been tough to beat regardless of location in the Big Ten.
While Iowa can be tough, they rely too much on the three-point shot and Wisconsin’s size and length down low will be far too much for Melsahn Basebe, Iowa’s young emerging star in the post, to deal with. He will be in for quite a shock tonight.
College basketball betting pick: Wisconsin (-6 ½).
Michigan vs. Northwestern, 6:30 pm ET:
The front-end of the Big Ten doubleheader tonight features two teams barely hanging in there when it comes to bubble contention.
While both have solid overall records, their Big Ten records are major black eyes on their tournament resumes.
However, both teams have been surging as of late. Michigan got blasted at Welsh-Ryan Arena in Evanston but they have had a history of success at home.
Michigan is the more athletic of the two teams and they play much better at home considering they are in the 200′s in terms of experience rankings in college basketball.
Michigan will turn things around and win solidly tonight as a slight favorite at home.
College basketball betting pick: Michigan (-2 ½).
