Wagering Lines – Troy State vs UAB

The wagering lines on college football in the sportsbook for this Saturday’s Troy vs. UAB game peg the Trojans as a road favorite to hand the Blazers a loss.

The Troy State Trojans are 3 ½ point faves to take down the UAB Blazers on Sept. 18th.  Troy is only 1 and 1 on the season but they play the 0 and 2 Blazers and were terrific against Oklahoma State, as a 13 ½ point dog in the lines on college football for that game, when losing 41 to 38.

It showed that Troy is capable of playing hard against a Big 12 team.  The Trojans beat Bowling Green 30 to 27 as -14 ½ favorites in their first game.  So, a lot is expected of Troy this week against an inferior UAB squad.

According to the wagering lines on college football trends, Troy should have no problems covering the spread in this game.

• The Troy State Trojans are 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 games following an ATS victory.

• The Troy State Trojans are 4 and 1 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing 40 points in their previous game.

• The UAB Blazers are 1 and 4 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games.

• The UAB Blazers are 0 and 5 ATS in their last 5 games in September.

This game should be no contest.  The betting lines on college football game experts must have information that I don’t have because Troy should absolutely dominate the UAB Blazers on Saturday.

In other words, giving up only 3 ½ points is a gift in my estimation.  Troy should probably be 2 and 0 instead of 1 and 1 and although they had to fight very hard to beat Bowling Green in Week 1, it’s apparent that they improved in Week 2 when facing the Cowboys on the road.  Oklahoma State is a solid football program and for a team like Troy to only lose by 2 points as close to a two touchdown underdog means a lot.

UAB just isn’t in the same class as the Trojans.  The Blazers are 0 and 2 on the season and that by itself isn’t a reason to discount their chances in this game.  What is the reason to discount their chances is the fact that the Blazers are 0 and 2 after facing 2 teams that Troy would probably beat by at least a touchdown margin, Florida Atlantic and Southern Methodist.

Southern Methodist destroyed UAB 28 to 7 as 11 ½ point favorites.  The lines on college football between Florida Atlantic and UAB in Week 1 was Blazers -13.  Not only did UAB not cover the spread, but they also lost straight up 31 to 32 to the Owls.

More respect is going UAB’s way this week or else they’d be a much bigger home dog.  I’m not one of those respecting them.  I believe that Troy figured out the issues that led to the close finish against Bowling Green in their first game of the season last week when they almost upset Oklahoma State.

The Trojans should have no trouble covering the 3 ½ point spread against UAB this Saturday.
