WAC Week 2 Betting Power Poll – Boise State are Tops

September 10, 2009

Covers were hard to find for ncaa football betting fans of the WAC in the first week of the college football wagering season. BetOnline.com stacks up the teams from the WAC in this week’s power poll…

1: Boise State Broncos (1-0 ATS, 1-0 SU) – The Broncos made headlines on the Blue Field by beating the pants off of the Ducks, but unfortunately, everything sort of got out of hand when punches were exchanged at the end of the game. Boise’s defense, which has never been its strength, was amazing last week, holding Oregon to 152 yards, the tenth best mark in the land for Week 1.

Up Next: Home vs. Miami (OH)

2: Idaho Vandals (1-0 ATS, 1-0 SU) – For the first time since 2006, the Vandals picked up a road victory when they beat New Mexico State 21-6 last week. RB Princeton McCarty toted the rock eight times for 96 yards and a touchdown, leading an offense that surprisingly put 350 yards on a sub-par squad of Aggies. Can they make it two in a row? Not if the Huskies look as good this week against Idaho as it did against LSU last week.

Up Next: Away @ Washington

3: Utah State Aggies (1-0 ATS, 0-1 SU) The Aggies hung tough with the Utes for a half of football, but ultimately, it couldn’t really stick around long enough to record an outright victory. However, thanks to a hefty spread, Utah State did manage to cash a winning ticket for its football bettors. Still, allowing 510 yards of offense to anyone in the country leaves a lot to be desired.

Up Next: Bye

4: Fresno State Bulldogs (0-0 ATS, 1-0 SU) – UC-Davis never really stood a chance against the Bulldogs and their potent offensive attack. RB Ryan Mathews rumbled for 106 yards and one of Fresno’s five rushing touchdowns on the day. The offense put up 310 yards on the ground, the 11 th best mark in the country last week amongst FBS squads. If it can put up similar numbers this week, HC Pat Hill will get to add the Badgers to his very impressive list of scalps.

Up Next: Away @ Wisconsin

5: Hawaii Warriors (0-0 ATS, 1-0 SU) – By default, the Warriors stay in the power poll simply because they were victorious. Still, it was a ridiculous struggle with D-II Central Arkansas, who led 14-9 at halftime. It took a touchdown pass with just 1:22 remaining to score the victory. No wonder why Hawaii very well could close as an underdog against arguably the worst BCS conference team in the country this week.

Up Next: Away @ Washington State

6: Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (0-1 ATS, 0-1 SU) – The Bulldogs had an absolutely awful time trying to string offense together against Auburn, but for as bad as that unit was (245 yards), the defense was probably that much worse (556 yards). If the Tigers ran the ball for 301 yards last week, how many will Navy run for this week?

Up Next: Away @ Navy

And the rest…

7: New Mexico State Aztecs (0-1 ATS, 0-1 SU)

8: Nevada Wolfpack (0-1 ATS, 0-1 SU)

9: San Jose State Spartans (0-1 ATS, 0-1 SU)
