March 5– NBA Games

** Records and stats not counting Friday night games.

Sacramento Kings (15-44) at Utah Jazz (32-30)

Where:  EnergySolutions Arena, Salt Lake City, Utah

When:  9:00 pm EST

Fair NBA Odds:  Sacramento +7 ½

Analysis:  The Utah Jazz has turned into one of the worst teams in the NBA.  I’m convinced.  Sure, the Sacramento Clowns are already one of the worst teams in the NBA, but Utah might be worse than Sacramento.  Utah is 2 and 8 on the NBA moneyline odds in their last 10 games.  That’s 2 wins out of their last 10.  Their latest loss occurred as -3 point home favorites against Denver.  Denver upset Utah 103 to 101 on March 2.  The Sacramento Kings aren’t winning games either but they figure to receive close to 8 points in this contest on Saturday.  Basketball handicappers are required to take the points in this game.  That’s just all there is to it.

Charlotte Bobcats (26-34) at Portland Trailblazers (34-27)

Where:  Rose Garden, Portland, Oregon
When:  10:00 pm EST
Fair NBA Odds:  Portland -7 ½

Analysis:  Not only does Charlotte have to take on a fired up Los Angeles Lakers squad looking for revenge on Friday night, but on Saturday the Kittens have to battle the Portland Trailblazers.  It’s not like there are a ton of hot pro basketball odds trends regarding the ‘Blazers in this contest on Saturday, but will it matter?  Charlotte has been blown out in 2 straight games, 86 to 100 to Orlando and 80 to 120 to Denver.  Now, they take on a team that got back on the winning side of things after their own 2 game losing streak by beating Sacramento 107 to 102 on March 2.  Portland’s terrific D, it allows only 96 points per contest, should have no trouble shutting down a Charlotte squad with only one true scorer, Stephen Jackson, on Saturday night.  I’ll back Portland to cover the spread in this game.

Denver Nuggets (37-26) at Los Angeles Clippers (22-40)

Where:  Staples Center, Los Angeles, California
When:  10:30 pm EST
Fair NBA Odds:  Denver -3 ½

Analysis:  I love Blake Griffin but he’s going to have to score a quadruple triple-double in this game for the Clippers to stay close to Denver on Saturday.  First, Denver should end up as the favorite in the sports betting book in this matchup because LAC has been horrible against the spread lately.  The Clippers are 3 and 7 ATS in their last 10 games.  They did beat Houston straight up, 106 to 103, in their last game, but that had to have been an anomaly.  There’s no way that LAC should be competitive against a Denver Nuggets’ squad that is 7 and 0 ATS and 6 and 1 straight up in their last 7 contests.  Denver has turned into a tough, good, scrappy, offensive minded run and gun squad that doesn’t mind playing defense.  They’re a good team.  Blake’s squad is not a good team.  I’m backing the Nuggets.
