Undefeated Lisa’s Booby Trap the Horse Race Betting Fave at Saratoga

Trainer and owner Timothy Snyder unleashes his undefeated 3-year-old filly Lisa’s Booby Trap onto Saratoga’s turf as the 5/2 morning line horse race betting favorite this Thursday.

Lisa’s Booby Trap, who was scheduled to take on Devil May Care in a Grade I race earlier in the meet but was scratched out of that race, will be running over turf for the first time.  She will also be facing the deepest field that she’s ever faced.

7-Queen of the Creek – - 5/1 morning line odds

When it comes time to find successful horse race betting wagers on Saratoga’s lawn, it’s always a good idea to look for horses that have had success over the Spa’s particular grass.  Queen of the Creek is one of those horses.  After losing by 17 lengths in the Grade III Regret stakes as a 9/2 choice, she blitzed a field of $50,000 optional claimers by running 6 furlongs in 1:10 and 4 and finishing up a mile in 1:35 and 4.  Simply put, jockey Julien Leparoux wasted no time taking the lead with Queen of the Creek in that race and then running off with the victory.  She won’t run off with the victory in this but Leparoux knows that he’ll need to keep her in a forward position throughout.  With Go Ask Alex and Lisa’s Booby Trap dueling on the front end, Leparoux should be able to put Queen of the Creek in perfect position to take over at the top of the stretch.  5/1 makes her a nice overlay to win this race.

1-Go Ask Alex – - 6/1 morning line odds

I can’t believe that the horse race betting odds makers at the Spa have listed Go Ask Alex at 6/1 on the morning line. Go Ask Alex should get the lead in this with Lisa’s Booby Trap in close attendance.  I believe that the daughter of Afleet Alex, because of her turf breeding and experience, should be able to keep Lisa’s Booby Trap at bay.  Keeping Queen of the Creek from running her down is another story altogether, however.  Go Ask Alex is still an overlay bet at the odds, though, and must be taken seriously in this.

2-Lisa’s Booby Trap – - 5/2 morning line odds

I love the horse and I really love the story behind the horse.  I don’t have to time to tell everybody that story. So, instead I will say that it would be very nice if Mr. Snyder won a race with this horse again.  She’s been absolutely brilliant in 4 starts but, and this is a huge but, 3 of those starts were at Finger Lakes.  The 4th start was at Saratoga but it was going 6 furlongs over the main track.  This is something altogether different for this filly.  She’s not bred to be great on turf, but, who knows?  Maybe, just maybe, she’s a freak.

Horse Wagering Strategy

I’m going to bet Queen of the Creek to win.  I will bet an exacta keying Queen of the Creek over Lisa’s Booby Trap and Go Ask Alex.  I will reverse the exacta for less.
