UL-Monroe Three-Point Lines on College Football Favorite
October 9, 2010
The UL-Monroe Warhawks, at 1-3 and coming off of a 3 to 52 beat down at the hands of the Auburn Tigers, are 3-point lines on college football faves versus Florida Atlantic this Saturday.
Perhaps, the reason for the Warhawks favoritism is the fact that they play a fellow 1 and 3 team at home. But there has to be more to it than that, doesn’t there? Both of these Sun Belt teams look absolutely horrendous, but where there’s crap, sometimes there’s also a golden lining around the crap when it comes to college football betting.
The golden lining around the crappy Florida Atlantic Owls could lead to lines on college football wagering profits.

The lines on college football trends give the nod to the Warhawks in this game.
- The UL-Monroe Warhawks are 4 and 0 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing more than 40 points in their previous game.
- The UL-Monroe Warhawks are 7 and 3 ATS versus a team with a losing record.
- The Florida Atlantic Owls are 0 and 4 in their last 4 games on grass.
- The Florida Atlantic Owls are 1 and 5 ATS in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.
Before getting into that golden lining around the crap load that is Florida Atlantic, a quick view of the stats reveals that neither team has the upper hand in this game no matter what the lines on college football trends imply.
The Warhawks score only about 13 points per game. They average 303 yards per game. The Owls score 17 points per game. Like UL-Monroe, they average 303 yards per game. When it comes to defense, the Owls give up 28 points on average and 371 yards per game while the Warhawks give up 34 points and 406 yards per game.
Against the spread, the Owls are 2 and 2 on the season and the Warhawks are 1 and 3. And now, my friends, comes that golden lining.
The Florida Atlantic Owls have done two things that the UL-Monroe Warkhawks have not, score points against a top team and beaten a better than it looks team. The Owls scored 17 points against the Top 20 ranked Michigan State Spartans in their 17 to 30 loss to the Spartans as 26-point dogs. Florida Atlantic also beat UAB 32 to 31 as 13-point underdogs earlier this season.
UAB is a 1 and 3 straight up team that upset Troy 34 to 33 as 3 ½ point dogs and almost upset the Tennessee Volunteers in their last game 29 to 32 as 14-point dogs. To me, that’s the golden lining. Florida Atlantic has scored points against a top rated team, the MSU Spartans, and has beaten a decent team while UL-Monroe has done nothing but play like a loser since the season started.
I’m gong to back Florida Atlantic in the lines on college football sportsbook to cover the spread.
