Leading up to UFC 108   

Jim Miller was set to take on Sean Sherk at UFC 108 but as has been the case for the UFC in the last month or so, another one of their fighters has suffered from an injury. Sherk, a former champion, probably would have been a stiff test for Miller but instead, Miller gets a real softball with Ludwig.

To be quite frank, Sherk was probably a top 10 fighter in the division in most rankings while Ludwig, who is 5-5 in his last 10 fights, really isn’t near anyone’s top 10.

Miller goes from being a small underdog against Sherk to being a huge favorite against Ludwig and there is a very good reason for that.

UFC 108 Betting: Miller vs Ludwig

This is the return to the UFC for Ludwig but not many people are expecting it to go well for him. Ludwig’s strength is striking and while he does have knockout power, he is abysmal on the ground. That’s where Miller’s game really kicks in. Miller is a ground specialist with quality wrestling skills and good submissions. That’s going to be a problem for Ludwig.

Miller is a smart fighter with a number of quality wins under his belt, so this fight really won’t present anything that he hasn’t seen before. He’ll just avoid the major hits from Ludwig and try to stay out of his wheelhouse. Beyond that, his main goal will be to get this fight to the mat as quickly as possible to dominate it there.

Four of Ludwig’s last eight losses have been by submission.

UFC 108 Betting: Outlook & Pick     

This will be Miller’s third opponent for UFC 108 as both Tyson Griffin and Sean Sherk have pulled out of this fight. In some cases, have your opponents switched around on you so many times can really impact your game plan but Ludwig isn’t a newbie and there will be plenty of film on him.

This is a mismatch and Miller will exploit Ludwig’s weak ground game very early on in the fight.
