U.S. Open 2010 Pebble Beach 1st Round Analysis and 2nd Round Predictions

June 18, 2010

Let me make something clear about your first round in a U.S. Open. Birdies aren’t a focus. Making pars is your focus. Jack knew it. Tiger knows it. I would think the ex-professional golfers/announcers (Johnny Miller) that got beat down all those years know it too. I think that boring conservative reality of shooting par doesn’t increase ratings in any media outlet. This is why these non-players speculate, for exposure and controversy.

Any golfer shooting par the first day increases their chances of a U.S. Open win based on history. The reality of a major golf tourney is that you need to make very few mistakes. That is what this science of precision U.S. Open Golf is based on. I’ll analyze the top 2 players in the world that you may have heard of and give some wild cards to Cash on.

Tiger Woods – This is a Major. His entire goal in golf is to eclipse Jack Nicklaus’ Major record of 18. He has 14 right now. He knows how to win major PGA golf tournaments. The most important thing he will not tell anybody until he shatters Jack’s record is the first round play. You can’t win a major in the first round. Many have lost their hopes in the first round. Tiger is not happy, but he is golfing early tomorrow. This means softer greens, truer greens and Happier Tiger. Bet him against anybody on matchups today.

Phil Mickelson – I watched him hit the ball. He is fine. Phil had some problems with his putter and to some extent, I think, nerves about what’s supposed to be his first U.S. Open Championship. That will change for both of these PGA future Hall of Famers. Phil will go later in the day today which is fine and even great. I see him with an attitude rivaling the Hot-Rod Drag Racer the instance before the light goes Green. He’s a little too anxious, but that will pass today. He’s a champion and will probably throw a 68 on the board today.

There would be nothing greater than to have the 2 Icons and Number 1 and 2 in the World playing in the last group at Pebble Beach on Sunday. I can sit back with my dad and talk smack about anything. Maybe we’ll have a new Number 1 ranked world player by the end of the weekend. NOBODY 5 over or less is out of it yet. There is a lot of golf left people, and this is the weekend I live for.

Now for the 2nd round plays I think are the most solid at BetOnline.com today:

Take Retief Goosen +125 against Mr. Snail Jim Furyk (Furyk should’ve been on Raisin tour at 30 years old.
Take Justin Leonard +105 against Scott Verplank (plus on Leonard is great here)

Take Phil Mickelson -155 against Padraig Harrington (not against Paddy, but with Phil who should shoot 67 or 68 today.

Pick of the Day

Take Tim Clark +100 against KJ Choi (Choi made huge recovery yesterday, but will show wear)

Now sit back and watch your money multiply friends. That’s what I’m here for.
