Two Top Big XII Teams Highlight Saturday’s College Basketball Betting

February 5, 2011

The Super Bowl isn’t the only thing to wager on this weekend, especially with College Basketball Betting in full swing!

Saturday is an especially big day for two top Big XII teams looking to remain on top of the sport.

No. 2 Kansas Jayhawks (21-1 SU, 10-10 ATS) at Nebraska Cornhuskers (15-6 SU, 7-7 ATS)

After losing to Texas two weeks ago at home, Kansas enters Saturday’s College Basketball Betting on a roll. They’ve won their last three games, and their last two by a combined 46 points.

Really, the difference in the Jayhawks the last few weeks has been guard Josh Selby. While forwards Marcus and Markieff Morris get all the credit in Lawrence, it’s been Selby’s elevated play from the backcourt which has been the difference. In wins over Colorado, Kansas State and Texas Tech, the freshman has emerged, averaging 14 points per game over that stretch.

And when it comes to Saturday’s College Basketball Online Betting, we just can’t see Nebraska keeping up. While the Cornhuskers play some of the nations defense (allowing opponents to shoot just 36.8 percent from the field), their offense is too erratic to be counted on. In their last two games, Nebraska has scored a combined 110 points. For comparison’s sake, Kansas has scored at least 88 in each of their last two games.

In the right time, and the right place, the Nebraska Cornhuskers could keep things close. It just isn’t going to happen Saturday. Kansas is the College Basketball Betting wager to make.

Texas Tech Red Raiders (11-12 SU, 5-13 ATS) at No. 3 Texas Longhorns (19-3 SU, 14-3 ATS)

Saturday, February 5: 9:00 p.m. ESPNU

In the second half of the College Basketball Betting slate, we head to Austin, TX, home of the nation’s hottest team. Texas has now won seven games in a row dating back to January 8, and has covered in each of those games.

In their most recent outing, things were no different, as Texas blitzed cross-state rival Texas A&M winning 69-49. Despite the Aggies coming into that one ranked in the Top 15 in the country, it was the Longhorns who exerted their will from start to finish, extending their lead to 25 points at halftime, before easing up in the final 20 minutes.

And it’s because of their relentless pressure on both ends of the court, that we just see no way Texas Tech can compete here. To Pat Knight’s credit, he’s got his team playing hard, as they’ve won three of the last four games. However, going against a Texas team that ranks in the Top 40 nationally in both scoring (76 points per game) and scoring defense (60 points allowed), the Longhorns should cruise to victory.

Right now, Texas is simply playing at a higher level than we’ve seen from anyone nationally. They should have no problem getting a comfortable College Basketball Betting win on Saturday evening.
