Tuesday Night MLB Odds – Slam the Nationals, Astros and Over at Wrigley Field!
April 27, 2011
Monday night was brutal versus the MLB odds as we lost with the Dodgers in the bottom of the 9th after Broxton blew the save, and the Braves also failed in extras. Chris Narveson got blown up by the Reds, so we failed to cash one diamond ticket. I’m back with a vengeance tonight and plan to get back in the green with three solid investments.
New York Mets @ Washington Nationals
Game Date/Time: Tuesday, April 26, 7:05 ET
Game Location: Nationals Park, Washington, D.C.
TV/Radio Broadcast: SNY, MASN2, XM
MLB Odds
New York Mets +1.5 -200 +100
(Chris Young – R)
Washington Nationals -1.5 +170 -120
(Jordan Zimmerman – R)
Total 7.5 O -120 7.5 U +100
It’s about time the Nats started winning some ball games for Jordan Zimmerman who’s done nothing but impress throughout his four starts to date. Though he’s 1-3, the flamethrowing righty sports a 3.70 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP to go along with a K/BB ratio of 13/5 through 24.1 total IP; opponents are batting just .245 against him. The Nationals have been at their best against the MLB odds at home where they stand 5-4 ($184) on the year. This will be Chris Young’s first stint since going on the DL with tendinitis in his throwing arm meaning he might be limited allowing the Nats to tee off on the Mets bullpen that sports a .265 unit ERA. Washington’s 5-1 the L/6 times Zimmerman was its Game 1 starter and 8-3 against the L/11 right-handers faced. Look for the Nats to snag the Game 1 victory.
SLAM THE NATIONALS!
St. Louis Cardinals @ Houston Astros
Game Date/Time: Tuesday, April 26, 8:05 ET
Game Location: Minute Maid Park, Houston, TX
TV/Radio Broadcast: FOX-Midwest & Houston, XM
MLB Odds
St. Louis Cardinals -1.5 +125 -140
(Jaime Garcia – L)
Houston Astros -1.5 -145 +120
(Bud Norris – R)
Total 7.5 O -110 7.5 U -110
Lance Berkman returns to Houston where he spent the bulk of his MLB odds career before getting traded to the Yankees and landing with the Redbirds this offseason. Leading St. Louis into battle will be lefty Jaime Garcia who enters a perfect 3-0 with a 1.44 ERA and K/BB ratio of 24/7 through 25 total IP; opponents have only managed a .222 batting average against him.
However, he got blown up by the Astros in his lone start against them last season and Houston’s currently pounding lefties to the tune of a .393 batting average at home. On top of that, Bud Norris has flat out owned the Redbirds throughout his MLB odds career going 5-1 with a 2.27 ERA & 1.08 WHIP in six career starts. Houston’s won three in a row and four of the L/6 times it hosted the division rival Cardinals.
SLAM THE ASTROS!
Colorado Rockies @ Chicago Cubs
Game Date/Time: Tuesday, April 26, 8:05 ET
Game Location: Wrigley Field, Chicago, IL
TV/Radio Broadcast: ROOT (Colorado), WGN, XM
MLB Odds
Colorado Rockies -1.5 +110 -140
(Jorge De La Rosa – L)
Chicago Cubs +1.5 -130 +120
(James Russell – L)
Total 12.5 O -110 12.5 U -110
Two lefties on the bump with the wind blowing out to left and the small strike zoned Paul Schreiber behind the dish; man I hope Mother Nature allows this one to get in. On top of it, oddsmakers have offered up the loftiest run ‘total’ of the season, and when that happens at Wrigley, you bet the ‘over’ and get ready for a run marathon. I’ve backed the high side of the total in each of Russell’s two previous MLB odds starts, as his outings are more or less bullpen games for the Cubs. ‘DLR’ is yet to be tested this season and he’s owned the Cubs, but Chicago will come out swinging for the fences in this one after it let one it should have had get away from it last night. These teams have already played to the ‘over’ in three of their four MLB odds clashes this season.
The ‘over’ is a perfect 6-0 the six times Colorado faced a losing team and its 7-3 in the Cubs 10 games played under the lights to date. Look for tonight’s MLB odds battle to be no different.
SLAM THE ROCKIES/CUBS OVER!
