Tuesday Night MLB Odds – Slam the Marlins, Astros and Rockies!
April 19, 2011
The 2011 MLB odds season is underway and every team has at least 15 games played under their belts at BetOnline Sportsbook. I’ve got three diamond investments lined up for the night that’s certain to take a bite out of your man’s bottom line!
Pittsburgh Pirates @ Florida Marlins
Game Date/Time: Tuesday, April 19, 7:10 ET
Game Location: Sun Life Stadium, Miami, FL
TV/Radio Broadcast: ROOT (Pittsburgh), XM
MLB Odds
Pittsburgh Pirates +1.5 -130 +180
(Paul Maholm – L)
Florida Marlins -1.5 +110 -220
(Josh Johnson – R)
Total 7 O -105 7 U -115
The ‘Fighting Fish’ made some nice coin for us last week throughout their eight-game road trip and now finally return home to battle a Buccos outfit that should come in beaming with confidence after taking 3 of 4 from the Reds at the GAB. Game 1 of this MLB odds series looks to be an epic pitcher’s duel with Paul Maholm and his 2.33 ERA matched up against Josh Johnson and his 1.35 ERA; ‘JJ’ most recently tossed 7.1 innings of no hit ball at Atlanta his last time out. Even though the Pirates have fared much better on the road (7-3 $810) than at home (1-5 -$386), Maholm’s been a tough luck loser thus far and I firmly expect the Marlins to build upon their 12-4 record the L/16 times Johnson was installed a home chalk.
SLAM THE MARLINS!
Houston Astros @ New York Mets
Game Date/Time: Tuesday, April 19, 7:10 ET
Game Location: Citi Field, Flushing, NY
TV/Radio Broadcast: FOX-Houston, SNY, XM
MLB Odds
Houston Astros +1.5 -190 +125
(Wandy Rodriguez – L)
New York Mets -1.5 +160 -145
(Jon Niese – L)
Total 7.5 O -105 7.5 U -115
Two of the biggest scrap heaps in all of baseball are set to go at one another from Citi Field on Tuesday night when Wandy Rodriguez and his 7.31 ERA leads the Astros (5-11, -$577) into battle against Jon Niese (6.88 ERA) and the New York Mets (5-11, -$554). These teams are 1-5 in these hurlers’ six combined outings this season. Whenever a situation like this arises, I always lean to the underdog on the MLB odds. Neither the Astros nor Mets have shown they should be favored by any amount over anyone to date, so I’ll ride the line value with the visitors and look for them to continue alternating wins and losses (they’re 4-0 their L/4 off a loss).
SLAM THE ASTROS!
San Francisco Giants @ Colorado Rockies
Game Date/Time: Tuesday, April 19, 8:40 ET
Game Location: Coors Field, Denver, CO
TV/Radio Broadcast: Comcast (Bay), ROOT (Colorado), XM
MLB Odds
San Francisco Giants +1.5 -160 +130
(Jonathan Sanchez – L)
Colorado Rockies -1.5 +140 -150
(Ubaldo Jimenez – R)
Total 8 O -120 8 U +100
It’s Ubaldo time at Coors as the righty makes his second start of the season after struggling on Opening Day vs. the D’Backs due to a cut cuticle on his throwing hand’s thumb. After the “Freak” made his teammates look foolish through 7+ innings of the NL West rivals first encounter last night, I’m expecting him to unleash his “A” game on the Giants en route to evening up the series. The Rox have raked against left-handed pitching to date and enter this MLB odds battle a perfect 4-0 vs. southpaws. Sanchez sports a career 5.04 ERA vs. Colorado and the Rockies are 4-1 in Ubaldo’s L/5 starts vs. the defending champs.
SLAM THE ROCKIES!
