Troy to Cover the Sports Betting Odds in Their Game vs. North Texas

The Troy State Trojans are 11 ½ point sports betting odds favorites to rough up the home team North Texas Mean Green on Saturday, Nov. 6th.

Troy is coming off of a shocking 14 to 28 loss to UL-Monroe on Oct. 30th.  The Trojans were 17-point favorites in that game meaning that they were supposed to dominate UL-Monroe.  Instead, the Trojans left Louisiana with an L. 

Will Troy State find a way to cover another double-digit spread on the road against another pesky team?  Or will last Saturday’s history repeat itself with the Trojans failing against the sports betting odds versus an inferior team?

The sports betting trends favor the Trojans in this game. 

• The Troy State Trojans are 11 and 5 ATS in their last 16 games following an ATS loss.
• The Troy State Trojans are 4 and 1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
• The North Texas Mean Green is 1 and 11 ATS in their last 12 games following a straight up victory.
• The North Texas Mean Green is 5 and 21 ATS in their last 26 games on turf.

According to the trends things don’t look particularly promising for the Mean Green in this game.  I have to concur with those trends.  The North Texas Mean Green is only 3 and 5 ATS on the season.  They’re actually 0 and 4 ATS at home this season.  Among some of the Mean Green’s more memorable sports betting spread home losses this season is a 27 to 28 straight up loss to UL-Lafayette as a -5 point favorite and a 10 to 34 loss to Florida International as 4 ½ point dogs.

North Texas is also coming off of a 33 to 6 victory over Western Kentucky as 6-point dogs.  While some may believe that the Mean Green has the momentum going into their game versus the Troy State Trojans, I believe the opposite.  The last time North Texas won a game, they followed it up with the straight up loss to UL-Lafayette.

The last time Troy State lost, 33 to 34 at the hands of UAB as 3 ½ point favorites, they responded with a 35 to 28 victory over Arkansas State.  Troy State must be kicking itself for dropping the game against UL-Monroe on the road last Saturday.  I don’t believe that the Trojans are going to leave anything to chance in this game.  I see them dominating North Texas from the outset and beating the Mean Green by at least 20 points.

The Troy State Trojans are my pick to cover the sports betting spread in this game.  They have the more solid all-around team and they will be looking to make amends to the upset loss from last week.  Troy should cover the 11 ½ point spread.
