Toledo vs Boise St – College Football Betting

October 9, 2010

With the Boise State Broncos back on the field Saturday night, it’s never too early to place your wagers in the college football betting. Boise will look to improve to 5-0 against the underrated Toledo Rockets.

College Football Betting Odds:

Toledo: +39
Boise State: -39

Boise State enters this game knowing they need to win, and win big to impress the pollsters. That shouldn’t be a problem, as they’re currently the No. 3 scoring offense in the country, averaging 45 points per game.

Any Broncos fan knows that this offense starts and ends with quarterback Kellen Moore. The junior is again putting up video-game like numbers, with over 1,000 yards passing, 11 touchdowns and just  one interception on the year. His two best receivers are two of the best in the country, Austin Pettis and Titus Young. Pettis leads this team with four touchdowns on the year, with Young’s 20 catches tops on the team. Also, don’t sleep on the running game, led by Doug Martin.

Still, the Toledo Rockets aren’t going to come into this one and play dead. Quite the opposite actually, as they’ve played some tough competitions so far this year.

Although the Rockets are just 3-2, one of those losses was to Arizona, one of the best teams in the country. Still, Toledo will need to improve on their 21 point a game average, which ranks just 92nd in the country. The play was so bad last weekend, that quarterback Austin Dantin was replaced with true freshman Terrance Owens. While Dantin will be back under center, his leash will be short, as he’s already thrown for four interceptions on the year.

Regardless of who is playing quarterback for Toledo, the college football betting pick is still Boise State. Wager on them this weekend.

The reason is simple. As much as this Boise State offense gets credit, their defense is totally underrated, giving up just 15 points per game, which ranks them 15th in the country. That number was skewed even more by their win over Virginia Tech, where the Broncos gave up 30 points. Other than that, Boise State has been nearly impossible to score on.

Also, when evaluating this game, let’s look at the one common opponent they have. Boise State went to Wyoming a few weeks back and absolutely dominated from start to finish, crushing the Cowboys 51-6. Those were the same Wyoming Cowboys that beat Toledo 20-15 last weekend.

With the better offense, better defense and a chip on their shoulder, the Boise State Broncos are the only pick to make here. Expect them to dominate from start to finish, and win this game going away.
When it comes to this weekend’s college football betting, Boise State is the only pick to make.

College Football Betting Pick: Boise State -39
