Thursday Night Football: Mississippi Rebels vs South Carolina Game Cocks
September 24, 2009
College Football Week 4 is here as the 4 point favorites (4) Mississippi Rebels visit the South Carolina Gamecocks at 7:30 PM ET, at Williams-Brice Stadium in the only game on Thursday night.
Ole Miss QB Jevan Snead threw three touchdowns passes as the Rebels capitalized on five SE Louisiana turnovers in the 52-6 win last week.
With that victory Ole Miss has won its eighth straight game, which is its longest streak since 1972 and they owe it to an aggressive defensive unit and a good multi dynamic offense.
On the other side, the Gamecocks are coming off their best offensive game of the season, but they haven’t faced a defense as talented as Mississippi’s. South Carolina accumulated 516 total yards in Saturday’s 38-16 win over Florida Atlantic.
Plus their running game is finally on track, with 287 yards against the Owls after rushing versus only 222 in the first two games.
"We run the ball like that, we’re going to be pretty tough to beat," said Gamecocks QB Stephen Garcia.
College football betting fans must know that putting pressure on Jevan Snead would be the biggest key for South Carolina if they want to pull an upset. The Gamecocks’ defensive should be able to exploit a vulnerable Ole Miss offensive front, but if they give Snead too much time to think he will find the open man downfield.
College Football Odds:
Mississippi Rebels -4 -110
South Carolina Gamecocks +4 -110
O/U 53 -110
My pick: This will be a close game, but the Rebels will get the victory however they won’t cover the spread. Over.
