Thursday college hoops betting – Big East at it again
February 24, 2011
The Big East Conference has two big Thursday college hoops betting matchups on the docket yet again for Thursday and both could have a big effect on seeding in the NCAA Tournament.
With a total of as many as 11 teams projected to make the Big Dance by most "bracketologists," it’s no secret that Big East games are worth watching for anyone who plans to bet on the tournament come March Madness.

Tonight, U-Conn and Pittsburgh are the two ranked squads in action but they will have a hard time defending their home courts against Marquette and West Virginia, respectively.
Can the Mountaineers and/or Golden Eagles score big upsets tonight?
West Virginia at Pittsburgh, 9 pm ET:
The college hoops betting favorite Panthers are in the top ten yet again at sixth in the country and they are expected to back it up tonight. Pitt is an 8-point favorite in this one, but the Mountaineers are sky-high after knocking off Notre Dame, another top-10 Big East foe.
Pittsburgh managed to cover the spread earlier this year in a 5-point road win over WVU earlier in the season, and this time around they are at home with a number one seed on the line.
The Panthers are 4-2 SU against the Mountaineers in their last 6 meetings and most of the college hoops betting trends point toward this one being a low-scoring game by recent standards of the two teams.
The low-scoring prediction favors the Panthers in this one as that is the type of game they excel in.
Look for Pittsburgh to win big with their defense.
College hoops betting pick: Pittsburgh
Marquette at Connecticut, 7 pm ET:
The Golden Eagles are a 5-point college hoops betting underdogs in this one in large part because of their continued woes on the road.
The Huskies will not take pity on them and will instead go for the jugular, as they are in need of more wins to cement a high tournament seed.
But the Golden Eagles have some defenders to run at lone U-Conn star Kemba Walker, and they should be able to keep this one close.
They won at Connecticut in 2010 and they have the players to do it again or at least keep this one close.
College hoops betting pick: Marquette
