The Philadelphia 76ers send their first-round playoff matchup against the Miami Heat back to South Beach for Game 5 tonight, as Philly desperately tries to lengthen the series. Miami, on the other hand, already has the semifinal matchup with the Boston Celtics in mind, and prepares to send the Sixers packing.

Miami comes into tonight’s game as the big favorites in the NBA Sportsbook, with the betting spread favoring the Heat by 10.5 points. The game total is set at 185.5 points.

After losing their first postseason game last Sunday, the Heat have been anxious to get back on the floor and take care of business. Failing to put up any points to match the Sixers 10 in the final two minutes of the game, the Heat fell to Philadelphia 82-86.

Perhaps it is due to the youthfulness of the Sixers roster, with players never before having played on this stage. Or perhaps the Heat lost focus on Philadelphia as it shifted to the next round.

Whatever the reason, basketball betting fans can expect the Heat to be focused and ready tonight.

Philadelphia got great contributions off the bench in Game 4, as both Louis Williams and Evan Turner added 17 points to lead the team in scoring. The Sixers will need big efforts all around tonight to get another win, especially from veteran forward Elton Brand on the boards.

Also note that the Heat have been outscored at the start of each game in this series, putting up 46 to the Sixers 78 points with the Heat starters on the floor. But don’t expect changes in strategy from Miami tonight. Just be ready for all-out performances from the terrible trio of Bosh, James and Wade, as these three are dead-set on a postseason run.

But Miami is facing a large spread tonight. In the Heat’s three wins in this series, the team has won by eight points, 21 points and then six points. With everything on the line tonight, I would expect a Heat victory but the 10.5-point spread seems a bit optimistic.
