The Furious 2010 Heisman Betting Watch – Ohio State’s Pryor Leads Charge

September 13, 2010

1. Terrell Pryor – Ohio State Buckeyes
Pryor reminded everyone why he’s the new front-runner for the Heisman Trophy in 2010 by totaling 346 yards from scrimmage and 2 touchdowns against the versatile and quick Miami Hurricanes defense. Eventually numbers and stats will shake down to big time wins on the schedule, and Pryor has done his best to stay ahead in the college football betting polls.

Next Game: Ohio vs. Ohio State -31.5

2. Denard Robinson (QB) – Michigan Wolverines
The biggest shocker in the 2010 Heisman Trophy race is Denard Robinson, the quarterback from Michigan who has single-handedly put the Wolverines back in to the BCS picture. Robinson has 430 yards passing with 2 touchdowns through the air, but has added 455 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns on the ground. Big numbers will keep him in this race, and maintain Michigan’s (ranked 20th) ascension up the college football rankings.

Next Game: Massachusetts vs. Michigan

3. Trent Richardson (RB) – Alabama Crimson Tide
Defending Heisman trophy winner Mark Ingram’s return still looms in the immediate future of Richardson’s attempt at one of his own, but he’s doing a great job in the meantime. Richardson piled up 144 rushing yards and a touchdowns and added another 46 receiving yards last week in a victory. As long as the Crimson Tide remain atop the standings, their best player will always get Heisman love. Right now, that guy is Richardson.

Next Game: Alabama -24 vs. Duke

4. Kellen Moore – Boise State Broncos
The Broncos had the week off, so Moore’s Heisman betting rankings took a bit of a hit as the rest of the class had monster weeks. Still, even at 6-foot-0 and 187 pounds, Moore is making a case that he is the best college quarterback in the country. The only way he wins this award is if the Broncos are in the BCS Championship game by season’s end.

Next Game: Boise State -23.5 vs. Wyoming

5. Ryan Mallet (QB) – Arkansas Razorbacks
The junior quarterback from Arkansas still puts up monster numbers, leading all quarterbacks in the Heisman race with 701 passing yards and 6 touchdowns. He’ll define his 2010 Heisman betting campaign as a road dog against Georgia this weekend.

Next Game: Arkansas vs. Georgia -2.5

BIGGEST RISER – Marcus Lattimore (RB – South Carolina)
Why to like him: 236 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns this year on the 13th ranked team in the nation. Why not to like him: he’s a freshman.

Next Game: Furman vs. South Carolina

BIGGEST LOSER – Jacory Harris (QB – Miami)
No big surprise here for the Heisman betting enthusiast. Harris threw four costly interceptions against the Buckeyes in a losing effort that saw the Hurricanes drop to 17th in the AP Top-25. He needs someone up here to take a big loss to have a chance, but his window of opportunity is closing fast.
