Jamie Moyer (6-5) vs John Lackey (6-3)
Friday, 7:10 PM ET
Don’t let Moyer’s age fool you! The 47-year-old has been pitching steadily this season. Last week he threw his second complete game on the season and surpassed the 100-wins mark after turning 40. He has thrown efficiently in his last starts, with a 2.83 ERA.
Lackey, the big right-hander, just threw one of his best starts this season, in which he allowed seven hits and two runs in just over seven innings of play. This will be his second start this season against the Phillies. In his first start back in May, Lackey took the loss allowing six hits and four runs over five innings
Have a little faith in the old guy to pull this one out!
Pick: Phillies
Joe Blanton (1-4) vs Daisuke Matsuzada (5-2)
Saturday, 4:10 PM ET
Blanton has been consistent in his struggles this season, as evident by his 1-4 record and 6.07 ERA. And if those struggles continue, the Phillies will be lucky if they can get five innings out of Blanton against a hot Boston lineup.
Matsuzada, the Japanese right-hander, has pitched well as of late, and seems to be settling into a rhythm. This will be his second start of the season against the Phillies. In the first matchup, Dice-K allowed just one run in over eight innings of play, while striking out five.
Matsuzada is the stronger and more reliable pitcher in this matchup. Go with Boston!
Winning Pick: Red Sox
TBA (0-0) vs TBA (0-0)
Sunday, 1:35 PM ET
The Phillies’ offense has really struggled against Boston this season in Interleague play. In the three-game series in May, Boston took two of the three games, outscoring Philly 14-8.
Considering that this weekend’s series is at Fenway, and the Boston offense is heating up, it is likely that he Red Sox will put up similar numbers. If you are a baseball betting fan expect Boston to take two of three from Philly this weekend.
Winning Pick: Red Sox
