Sweet 16 Predictions – Bracket Busters

March 16, 2011

There are always stars that are bound to shine, especially in games featuring teams in the dance. We have our Sweet 16 predictions for double digit seeds that you are sure to cash in with throughout the 2011 NCAA Tournament!

Clemson Tigers (East Region) – The East Bracket has an incredibly dangerous No. 12 seed in Clemson, as this is a club that really knows how to play at the defensive end of the court. After years of struggling in the dance, the team finally got its feet wet in Dayton with a ‘W’ over the UAB Blazers in the play-in game. Are things going to continue? We know that it takes a bit of bravado to make this one of our Sweet 16 predictions, but the Tigers really can roar, even against the West Virginia Mountaineers and the Kentucky Wildcats.

Missouri Tigers (West Region) – Our Tiger tales continue with our Sweet 16 predictions on the Tigers. Missouri is one of these teams that always does well in the NCAA Tournament, because it is just so darn hard to prepare for its "40 Minutes of Hell" attack. Mizzou just keeps coming, and keeps coming, and keeps coming at you, and especially in the second day in a week, it is really hard to be able to figure this team out. The Connecticut Huskies and Cincinnati Bearcats were both Big East teams this year, and though they both saw great teams all year long, they’ve never seen anything like this. The ‘Zou will make some huge progress in this tournament and might even win this whole West bracket; not say’n, jus say’n…

Wofford Terriers (Southeast Region) – The BYU Cougars had better not be thinking down the road too far, or they might get nipped right at the very beginning against Wofford. Jimmer Fredette is a great story, but he is all by himself when it comes to winning these games, especially without Brandon Davies in the fold. Wofford’s Noah Dahlman isn’t an outside player like Fredette is, but he can keep up bucket for bucket in the paint if he can stay out of foul trouble. The No. 14 could be the real team to watch in the Southeast.

Florida State Seminoles (Southwest Region) – The trick is going to be getting over that first hump for FSU. We tend to believe that the winner of this first game between it and the Texas A&M Aggies will end up making for great Sweet 16 predictions. The Noles have the ace in the hole if Chris Singleton ends up in the lineup for these games, as he is the top scorer and top defensive player on a very strong defensive team. If games come down to crunch time, he’s the Noles go-to-guy to possess the rock, and he has a great history in those spots for the garnet and gold.
