Struggling Hoyas Host Pitino’s Streaking Cardinals

February 23, 2009

Rick Pitino’s Louisville Cardinals (21-5 SU, 16-10 ATS, 12-12 O/U) have won three consecutive games and four of five, while covering the spread in each victory for BetOnline NCAA basketball betting backers.

John Thompson’s Georgetown Hoyas (14-11 SU, 10-4 ATS, 10-11 O/U) were handed a convincing home defeat the last time out and have failed to cover the spread in a whopping eight of its last nine games overall.

Tonight, the Cardinals will try to extend their winning streak when they visit the Hoyas at the Verizon center in Washington, D.C.

Athletic senior forward Terrence Williams was all over the place in the Cardinals’ 72-63 win over Cincinnati on Saturday afternoon, totaling 20 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals as Louisville allowed a jaw-dropping low, two free throws.

The Cardinals covered the 5.5-point spread as road favorites while the final score played OVER the game’s posted O/U total of 132 points.

Georgetown was handed a convincing 78-72 loss to Marquette on Saturday afternoon despite placing four players in double figure scoring and getting a team-high 17 points from sophomore guard Chris Wright.

The Hoyas failed to cover the 3.5-point spread as home favorites while the final score played OVER the day’s posted total of 142.

Here is a look at the key trends for each team, followed by my in-depth analysis and NCAA college basketball Free Picks.

NCAAB Odds

Louisville Cardinals -2 -110

Georgetown Hoyas +2 -110

Over 132½ -110

Under 132½ -110

Analysis: I know the Georgetown Hoyas are playing at home in this matchup, but they are struggling so badly, I just don’t see them winning this matchup against a surging Louisville team that has legitimate national title hopes.

With both teams allowing just over 60 points per contest, I say take the Cardinals and the Under to double up on your winning s in this contest BetOnline NCAA college basketball online betting fanatics.
