Richmond Spiders (+6.5) -110

Temple Owls (-6.5) -110

Over/Under 130.5

These two teams are sporting very similar resumes for the NCAA Tournament, and the sportsbook odds are showing that accordingly. There’s no doubt that Temple has the better chance of getting into the field of 68 based on history, name recognition, and the fact that it does have its share of RPI Top 50 wins. Richmond doesn’t even have one, and it has a bevy of questionable losses as well.

Still, these two teams are both at 9-2 in the A-10, and both think that 24 wins will punch their respective tickets into March Madness.

Don’t be shocked if defense is really the key to this one. Both teams do it well, as both are keeping their foes in the low 60s in scoring per game. Yes, both are averaging in the 70s in scoring, but both teams are incredibly efficient and have high shooting percentages across the board.

The Owls are the favorites on the sportsbook odds though, thanks to the fact that they have six legitimate scorers to turn to on a regular basis. Ramone Moore is the best of the bunch at 15.0 points per game, but Lavoy Allen is definitely worth watching since he is at 10.7 points and 7.0 boards per night to be the top big man on this team.

Richmond can counter with Justin Harper, who can do just about anything asked of him. He’s the team’s top scorer at 18.0 points per game, and the top rebounder at 6.7 boards per night.

However, he’s got a great shooting touch from all over the court, knocking down 57.1 percent from the field and 49.6 percent from long range, both of which are team highs for players scoring more than 4.2 points per game.

Kevin Anderson has a great history in games like this, especially in clutch, and especially from three point land. Anderson is hitting 44.7 percent of his threes this year and is accounting for 15.7 points per game.

The Spiders are 18-7-1 ATS in their L/26 road games, and that is a trend that we cannot ignore. Yes, the favorite is 5-2-1 ATS in the L/8 in this series, but this is a lot of points to ask the Owls to cover; even at home. Richmond will beat the sportsbook odds on Thursday night.
