Sportsbook Betting – Baylor in Must Win Situation vs. #17 Texas A&M
February 26, 2011
The Baylor Bears are in a must win situation, as a likely home favorite on the college hoops sportsbook betting site, when they face the #17 Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday, February 26th.
The Bears are in danger of missing out on the NCAA Tournament this season. That would be disastrous for a team that had high hopes of actually challenging for the Big 12 title this season. The truth is that Baylor just isn’t as good of a team as some of the other squads in the Big 12. The Bears, should, however, play with a lot of determination on Saturday considering what’s at stake.

When it comes to sportsbook betting, neither Texas A&M nor the Baylor Bears have the upper hand in this contest. Baylor is the home team, however, and the desperate team, meaning that the odds makers will most likely set a line favoring the Bears over the Aggies.
Betting on either Baylor or Texas A&M means that hoops handicappers are betting on a team, essentially, to win. Since basketball bettors have to assume that the betting line is going to be extremely short on either team, hoops handicappers must decide who will be the winning team in this game. Will it be Texas A&M or will it be Baylor?
My gut tells me that Baylor will beat Texas A&M by at least 6 points in this game. Baylor is a good team. They just haven’t been able to put together a string of good games.
Now that their backs are against the wall, hoops handicappers should expect Baylor star LaceDarius Dunn, who averages 20.4 points per game, and Bears’ inside strong man Quincy Arcy, who averages 7.6 boards per game, to really take it to the Aggies on Saturday.
Baylor already beat A&M once, 76 to 74 in overtime, in College Station. They should be able to do the same thing to A&M in Waco. My analysis, of course, depends quite a bit on what the sportsbook betting odds makers set the line at.
If I’m totally off and Baylor is, say a -4 ½ to -5 ½ point favorite, then Texas A&M has to be considered the team to back against the spread because the Aggies have won 5 games in a row, including 3 of the 5 on the road, and rate as one of the solid teams in the Big 12.
But if I’m correct and the Bears are only -3 point favorites or less in this game, then they’re the team to back ATS. The real Baylor Bears should show up on Saturday and that means taking it hard to the Texas A&M Aggies.
I’m backing Baylor against the spread on Saturday unless I’m way off in my odds analysis.
