Sports Betting Pick – Alabama at Florida Rematch to Settle Football Feud

March 1, 2011

The Gators are still fuming about the Crimson Tide’s ass-beating 31-6 this football season, but can Florida’s college basketball team cover the 6 point Sports betting spread?

Alabama had no problem embarrassing the Gators back on October 2, and these schools don’t forget about ass-whoopin’s even if it’s in women’s volleyball (which isn’t too bad with a couple hotties sweating up the court/sand/mud…) Ahem! Back to Basketball.

Alabama Crimson Tide (19-9) at #14 Florida Gators (22-6) – Tue March 1 at 7:00 ET

Stephen C. O’Connell Center (12,000) – Gainesville, Florida

Sports Betting Line:

Alabama Crimson Tide (13-10 ATS) +6

Florida Gators (10-13 ATS) -6

This game is going to be feisty! Both the Crimson Tide and the Gators are coming off of very disappointing losses (even if I told you Kentucky would beat Florida). This will be a good ol’ Southeastern Conference rumble.

Alabama is looking to close out hard against these Gators and then host the Georgia Bulldogs later this week to insure a spot in that coveted March Madness Bracket Tournament. IF (big if) they pull off this double dipped defeat, they earned that spot 4 shore!

That loss to Mississippi last week could jeopardize the Tide’s chances to be a part of the Bracket Madness. They can take a huge step toward making it by taking down the Gators in Gainesville and covering the Sports Betting Line.

Inside Alabama should almost dominate Florida with their big men inside. Tony Mitchell and JaMychal Green are a big part of the reason for ‘Bama’s dominant defense this year. They rank a strong 4th in the nation allowing 58.2 points a game.

The Tide will need some help from outside the arc also if they want to have a chance against these sharp shooters.

Florida does, in contrast, have the strength of the team in the guards. Sophomore Guard Kenny Boynton has been the hot pistol averaging 18.6 points a game and 8 for 16 from 3-point range over the last 3 games.

Alabama will also need to contain forward Chandler Parsons who stepped up by playing with a semi-bruised hip the last 2 games. The senior was right back at form with his numbers playing through the pain for the Florida Gators’ GAIN.

Florida hasn’t lost to Alabama in 6 home games since 1997. The Tide does not like going south. I’m not saying Alabama will beat Florida, but I definitely don’t see them losing by 6 points or more on the Sports Betting Line.

Alabama is 10-3 ATS against other SEC Conference opponents this year, and I’m calling out another cover Against The Spread here.

Another trend to help your Sports Betting decision is the Gators have a 4-13 record as a favorite ATS this year.
