Sports Betting – DePaul Looks To Extend Big East Win Streak
February 19, 2011
Sports betting experts know that DePaul has been swallowed up by the big, bad Big East, but now they’ve finally won a conference game, and on Saturday they will try to extend their winning streak to two as they play host to the 14th-ranked Villanova Wildcats. The game begins at Noon ET at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL. In the sports betting odds, Villanova will be laying quite a few points; perhaps even double digits.

Here are the trends that are involved with sports betting on this game:

- Villanova has played six of its last seven games UNDER the total
- Villanova has won seven of its last ten road games SU
- DePaul has lost 12 of its last 13 games SU
- DePaul has covered its last four games
- DePaul has played six of its last nine games OVER the total
- DePaul has covered one of its last five home games
- DePaul has played four of its last five home games OVER the total
One thing sports bettors might be aware of is that until Thursday night, DePaul was on a 23-game losing streak in the Big East. In other words, DePaul had been about as effective as RuPaul on the basketball court. But then there was a visit to Providence, which finally brought that elusive victory. Jeremiah Kelly had 23 points for the Blue Demons and 20 from Cleveland Melvin, and the team won straight-up as an eleven-point sports betting underdog.
It’s not that DePaul hadn’t been trying hard. They have been playing some teams tight, most notably Louisville (61-57) and Cincinnati (71-68), of late. In fact, the Blue Demons have now covered four consecutive games in sports betting.
Villanova has been going in the other direction, as far as pointspread performance is concerned. The Wildcats have covered just once in their last seven games, and have lost four of their last seven straight-up. Two of these defeats have come against Rutgers and Providence, and there was a narrow escape against Seton Hall on Tuesday. This is a guard-oriented team, and they are now missing one of those guards, Corey Stokes, who has "turf toe," and he could be out a couple of more weeks. So you could say that Villanova’s national ranking could be in jeopardy, although its at-large hopes certainly aren’t,
DePaul has covered seven of its last ten when getting double digits in the sports betting odds. At the moment, it’s a big question as to whether they will be getting that much here, but recent evidence suggests that they can play the Wildcats tough. We’d be inclined to take a sizable number in the sports betting line.
