The Oklahoma Sooners quickly got over losing their first game of the season at Missouri two weeks ago by crushing Colorado 45-10 last week to improve to 7-1, while the Texas A&M Aggies improved to 5-3 with a 45-27 win here at Kyle Field over Texas Tech last Saturday.

If you simply look at the statistics in this game, you would think this game is a toss up. After all, the Oklahoma offense is averaging 35.8 points and 473.5 yards per game while the Texas A&M offense is averaging 34.2 points and 496.5 yards. Also, the Oklahoma defense is allowing 20.0 points and 373.8 yards per game while the Aggies are allowing 21.5 points and 345.0 yards.

Well, football betting is not always about raw statistics, and there is a reason why Oklahoma is ranked and Texas A&M is not. The Sooners played the much tougher schedule, and even losing at Missouri is forgivable this year. The Aggies, meantime, have beaten the likes of Stephen F. Austin, Louisiana Tech, Florida International and Kansas.

If you believe in common opponents, Texas A&M lost to Missouri at home 30-9, while the lone Oklahoma loss was at Missouri in a very hostile environment by just a 36-27 score.

Now the better team does not always win in sports betting, but there really can be no argument that the Sooners are the more superior team here talent wise.

So why is this line so low? Well, the Aggies may have had their best win all year last week, as Texas Tech is certainly better than the aforementioned teams they have beaten. What concerns us though is that they allowed a disturbing 452 total yards in that win with 356 of those yards coming in the air.

That is a bad sports betting omen vs. a quarterback of the caliber of Landry Jones, who is second in the entire country with his 2547 passing yards while completing a nice 67.2 percent of his passes with 23 touchdown passes against just five interceptions.

Jones already showed the Aggies what he could do in a 65-10 Oklahoma annihilation last season back in Norman, where he completed 24 of 39 passes for 392 yards and five touchdowns in a game where the Sooners piled up 640 total yards. A common slogan in sports betting is “Those that ignore history are doomed to repeat it”, and we do not feel this change to their home venue is enough to keep Texas A&M close.

NCAA Football Insider Tip: While the overall statistics for these teams are comparable, Oklahoma has played the much tougher schedule and their quarterback Landry Jones should carve up a suspect Texas A&M pass defense. That should be enough for a handy road win.

Take Oklahoma Sooners when you do your sports betting on Saturday.
