Sitting Ducks – Cavaliers look to Finish of the Hawks

May 11, 2009

The Cleveland Cavaliers (73-16 SU, 57-32 ATS, 38-50-1 O/U) will be looking to finish off the underachieving Atlanta Hawks (51-41 SU, 47-44-1 ATS, 41-49-2 O/U) and cover the spread in the BetOnline Sportsbook in their eighth straight playoff game when they visit Atlanta at Philips Arena in Game 4 of their second round playoff series tonight at 7 PM ET.

The Cavaliers won Game 3 97-82 to take a 3-0 lead in the Eastern Conference semifinal series as superstar forward LeBron James dominated with a game-high 47 points on Saturday night, helping the Cavaliers to easily cover the spread for NBA betting backers as a 9-point road favorite while the 179 combined points played Under the 181.5-point O/U total. Shooting guard Joe Johnson scored a team-high 21 points for Atlanta in a losing effort.

Here is a look at tonight’s NBA betting trends, followed by my in-depth analysis and NBA Free Picks.

  • Atlanta Hawks +10½ -110
  • Over 183 -110
  • Under 183 -110

Analysis: Maybe it’s me, but after seeing the Cavaliers lay three emphatic smackdowns on the unfocused Hawks, particularly their convincing win in Game 3, I just don’t see the Atlanta winning or covering the spread tonight in Game 4.

Atlanta’s lack of leadership, despite the fact that they have some very talented players, was never more evident than it was in their Game 3 loss where they allowed LeBron James to completely take over in the second half despite hanging with the Cavs for the majority of their last contest.

Simply put, BetOnline NBA sports betting backers, take the Cleveland Cavaliers, behind their iron-willed leader, LeBron James, to finish off the Hawks with one final spanking tonight.
