SEC Matchup Between #11 Kentucky and #23 Florida Highlights College Basketball Betting

February 6, 2011

Hoops handicappers should log onto the NCAA Basketball sportsbook and check out the #11 Kentucky Wildcats vs. #23 Florida Gators game on Saturday, Feb. 4th.

The huge SEC matchup pits two of the most highly regarded coaches in college hoops, John Calipari for Kentucky and Billy Donovan for Florida, against each other. The winner of the game could solidify itself as the best team in the SEC. But KU vs. FL isn’t the only big game going on this Saturday night. #3 Texas is in action versus Texas Tech and the #6 San Diego State Aztecs take on TCU.

Feb. 5th– NCAA BB Games – Night

Texas Tech Red Raiders (11-12) at #3 Texas Longhorns (19-3)

Where: Frank Erwin Center, Austin, Texas

When: 9:00 pm EST

Fair College Basketball Betting Odds: Texas -24 ½

Analysis: Yes, Texas Tech is 3 and 1 against the online sports betting spread in their last 4 games, but in their last game Kansas absolutely rocked them. The Jayhawks beat Tech 88 to 66. I’ve got the feeling that Tech falls apart after that loss and puts up, oh, I don’t know, 5 or 6 “L”s in a row?

The Longhorns squashed the Red Raiders 83 to 52 the last time these two teams met and that game occurred in Lubbock. Now, the Longhorns take on the Red Raiders in Austin. How bad is this one going to get? Oh, it should get really bad, my friends, really, really bad.

#11 Kentucky Wildcats (16-5) at #23 Florida Gators (17-5)

Where: Stephen C. O’Connell Center, Gainesville, Florida

When: 9:00 pm EST

Fair College Basketball Betting Odds: Under 143 ½

Analysis: Florida’s 65 to 61 victory over the Vanderbilt Commodores in their last was an awesome effort. As 4 ½ point basketball betting dogs, the Gators didn’t cover the spread, but Vandy could have easily won the game straight up. Florida is a decent team.

They need to gel more before March rolls around, but they’re not bad. KU’s 69 to 71 loss to Ole Miss in their last was flat out embarrassing. The Wildcats were -6 ½ point road dogs in that game. I believe that Florida’s brand of basketball, awesome defense with a half court offense, wins out on Saturday, but I’ll go under the total just in case.

TCU Horned Frogs (10-13) at #6 San Diego State Aztecs (22-1)

Where: Viejas Arena, San Diego, California

When: 10:30 pm EST

Fair College Basketball Betting Odds: SDSU -18 ½

Analysis: TCU should have no chance against the Aztecs in Viejas Arena on Saturday. San Diego State bounced back from their loss to BYU with victories over Wyoming and Colorado State. The Aztecs barely beat the Rams 56 to 55 as -5 ½ point college line odds favorites in their last.

That’s okay. SDSU is still 6 and 3 ATS at home and TCU has lost 5 games in a row straight up and is 1 and 4 versus the spread in those last 5 contests. The Aztecs should put the Horned Frogs away before halftime on Feb. 5th.
