Saturday College Hoops Betting – Duke and Kansas in Action

February 26, 2011

Why not kick off the weekend preview with a College Hoops Betting parlay involving the top two teams in the nation. That’s right folks, both #1 Duke and #2 Kansas hit the road for big conference showdowns as the Blue Devils head down to Hokie territory for a date with Virginia Tech while the Jayhawks take on Big 12 rival Oklahoma.

For Duke, they’ve got three games remaining to ensure they retain the top spot in the country, two of those on the road, with the season finale coming against the 19th ranked Tar Heels in Chapel Hill. As for Kansas, they face a very similar stretch except two of the three teams they’ll be facing rank in the Top 25, #17 Texas A&M and #21 Missouri.

#2 Kansas Jayhawks vs. Oklahoma Sooners (Lloyd Noble Center – Norman, OK)

Saturday, February 25th – 4 PM ET

TV: ESPN

It’s tough to say who has the tougher road to the end of the season. Kansas definitely has the easier game this Saturday as they’re taking on a Sooner team that hasn’t won since February 2nd. OU has dropped six straight and just haven’t been able to muster any offence, highlighted by their last loss to Texas A&M by a 61-47 final.

The Jayhawks bounced back from a tough loss to Kansas State, the day they had taken over the number one ranking in the nation, and have won two straight and eight of their last nine. With hopes of possibly regaining that top spot, Kansas may very well blow this Sooner team right out of the Water on Saturday.

#1 Duke Blue Devils (26-2) vs. Virginia Tech Hokies (Cassell Coliseum – Blacksburg, VA)

Saturday, February 25th – 9 PM ET

TV: ESPN

The second half of this College Hoops Betting parlay is the game you’re going to want to watch as Virginia Tech can be very tough at home, especially when they’ve got a chance to knock off the number one team in the country.

That would be big, but just getting a win is much more important for the Hokies this point as they’re one of those teams sitting on the bubble of the March Madness Tournament. Knocking off Duke would give them some serious clout come selection Sunday, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this one comes down to the wire on Saturday night.

At least that’s what I’m hoping for out of Virginia Tech, as everyone in the nation will be watching this one. The College Gameday crew will be in town, the hype machine will be at full blast, and the Hokies are going to need to respond against the top team in the nation.

The College Hoops Betting lines aren’t out yet for this one but if you can get the Hokies anywhere above +4, nab them up. Call me crazy, but the building will be rocking and with their tournament lives practically hanging in the balance, why not take a shot on Virginia Tech.

College Hoops Betting Picks: Kansas (up to -12), Virginia Tech (+4 or greater)
