Saratoga Betting – Bay To Bay Figures to Run Past the Speed in Race 8 on Wednesday
August 1, 2010
Saratoga doesn’t mess around. The oldest racetrack in the United States often times offers terrific graded racing action during the week and this Wednesday, July 28th, is no exception.
Some scintillating thoroughbreds will take to Saratoga’s inner turf course for the Grade II Lake George on Wednesday. One of those horses, Bay To Bay, figures to be very difficult to beat.

12-Bay To Bay – - 4/1 morning line odds
As deep as this field appears to be, Bay To Bay definitely looks like the one to beat. There should be enough speed in this race to set up the daughter of Sligo Bay who is 3-3-1 out of 7 lifetime races and almost got to Strike It Rich the last time she faced that rival. Jockey Robby Albarado, who hasn’t won a race at Saratoga’s meet yet, will have to make a trip out of the 12 hole but if enough speed goes after Strike It Rich, then Bay To Bay is definitely the filly to bet to win. She closed for a victory going a mile after a :49 half and being 8 ½ lengths off of the lead in her last. She’ll get much kinder fractions to close into on Wednesday.
11-Caminadora – - 12/1 morning line odds
No love from the morning line odds maker goes to the surprise winner of the Grade III Regret. Caminadora does switch jockeys from Corey Nakatani to J.J. Castellano, but she should still be taken seriously by horseplayers because she’s a closer in a field full of speed and her trainer, Todd Pletcher, has already won 4 races at the Saratoga meet for a 29% win percentage. Caminadora could light up the scoreboard again, like she did in the Regret, at what figures to be overlaid horse betting odds.
8-Strike It Rich – - 7/2 morning line odds
Strike It Rich has won three races in a row but Bay To Bay was closing into those soft fractions that Strike It Rich got away with in her last. Jockey Garrett Gomez fits this gal like a glove and any horse that wins 50% of its races, Strike it Rich is 4 out of 8 lifetime, has to be taken seriously. The only problem is that there’s no way she gets away with soft fractions in this and Bay To Bay and Caminadora are both quality closers. I love the horse but hate the likely betting odds!
Horse Wagering Strategy
I’m going to bet Bay To Bay to win. I will bet an exacta with Bay To Bay over Strike It Rich and Caminadora. I will reverse that exacta for less.
I will bet a trifecta with 8-Strike It Rich, 11-Caminadora, 12-Bay To Bay over 4-Neon Light, 8-Strike It Rich, 11-Caminadora, 12-Bay To Bay over ALL.
Good luck!
