Yesterday’s horse pick of the day was absolutely awesome. Jet Propulsion was bet down but he was bet down to between 7 to 2 and 4 to 1, higher than our cut-off, and paid $9.40 to win and over $5 to place.

Those are excellent numbers for online betting fans dabbling in thoroughbred racing. Furthermore, Jet Propulsion keyed a $42 exacta with our second choice, Mambo Meister.

Now, online racebook fans need to turn their attention to Santa Anita where even though not a long shot, an overlay nonetheless resides in the 7th!

Trainer Peter Eurton is winning with 42% of his stock at Santa Anita and this son of Poteen could help raise that number in this race. He gets the rail, which is a good thing going a route of ground, and Michael Baze is a terrific jockey. The question is that because this is a short field, Star Nicholas will have to work hard to keep in touch. I have no doubt that he can. Zappa will be the chalk in this but Star Nicholas is the one firing bullets in the morning.

Rocket Legs – - 7/2 online betting odds

Todd Pletcher brings Rocket Legs back to the races after a long lay-off. The last time Rocket Legs was seen on a racetrack was back in March of 2008. Some morons in the United States government believed the economy was okay way back then! No worries. Pletcher can get them ready to fire and Garrett Gomez takes the call. He’s a player in this short field.

Zappa – - 2/1 online betting odds

Zappa is the definite class in this but why is trainer John Sadler putting up the former Breeders’ Cup starter for the claim price of $80,000? Okay, I get it. That’s a lot of money but I still don’t like to see it. He was brilliant in his last race but could bounce just enough in this for Star Nicholas to take home top honors.

Star Nicholas is a definite play at the online betting odds of 2 to 1 or higher in this. Things really set up for him. I’ll bet Star Nicholas to win and place. I will also key Nicholas in an exacta and trifecta over Zappa and Rocket Legs.
