Santa Anita Park resumes their usual race schedule on Wednesday with one of the most consistent horses in the nation, if you like horses that finish second, running in the 7th.

Unusual Heat has finished second three races in a row. The filly isn’t our pick of the day in the BetOnline online racebook on Wednesday, but, of course, we’ll have to use her.

Let’s try to send one deep with this daughter of Unusual Heat that ran terribly as the favorite in her last race. She never got into the running in her last and jockey Garrett Gomez decided to bail for Remember Seattle, but Flashover did win the first two races of her career. The try in the Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Sprint probably wasn’t such a great idea and then in her last…well, she just didn’t have it. She can bounce back at nice odds today if jockey Joe Talamo can get her to relax and put in a nice run.

Unusual Heat – - 7/2 morning line odds

Unusual Heat isn’t going off the favorite in this, speedster Kulinski’s Rose is, but she’s definitely the goods after finishing second in three lifetime races. She could prove tough yet again because chalk Kulinski’s Rose faces other speed in the form of Ellen K. on the rail. Unusual Heat will be in the catbird seat but she will have to hold off Flashover to get it done.

Brought It – - 5/1 morning line odds

Brought It goes first time for trainer Frank Monteleone. It’s a 20% winning move for Monteleone who has been successful in SoCal even though he’s surrounded by guys like Bob Baffert, Bobby Frankel and Doug O’Neil. If Monteleone improves Brought It just slightly, she has to be given a chance considering the fact that she to could find herself in the catbird seat.

Wagering Strategy

I’m taking a swing on Flashover to return to form and will bet her to win and place. I will also use Flashover, Brought It and Unusual Heat in an exacta and trifecta box.
