Sabathia Big Fave in the Baseball Sportsbook to Punish Dodgers on Friday Night
June 25, 2010
C.C. Sabathia and the New York Yankees are big favorites in the MLB sportsbook to punish the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night.
Yankees vs. Dodgers isn’t exactly the same as Lakers vs. Celtics in the NBA, but it’s sort of close.
The two teams have met 11 times for the World Series and many, many baseball fans are well aware of the Dodgers’ Brooklyn roots. L.A. finally got off the schneide in the Freeway Series by beating the cross-town rival Angels in their last game, 10 to 6.
Now, they’re hoping to take down a classic rival in the Yankees this weekend.
It all starts on Friday night!

The MLB Betting Trends clearly favor the Yankees in this game.
- The New York Yankees are 13 and 3 in their last 16 interleague games vs. a right-handed starter.
- The New York Yankees are 12 and 3 in CC Sabathia’s last 15 starts after 4 days of rest.
- The Los Angeles Dodgers are 1 and 5 in Vicente Padillas last 6 starts.
- The Los Angeles Dodgers are 17 and 8 in their last 25 games after a victory.
The Yankees and Sabathia are favorites for a reason. CC is 8 and 3 this season with a 3.68 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP. He also spent some time in the N.L. with the Milwaukee Brewers.
While with the Brewers, he managed to produce a 1.29 ERA against the L.A. Dodgers.
By contrast, Vicente Padilla is 1 and 1 on the season with a 6.67 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP. Padilla spent some time in the A.L. with the Rangers. While with the Rangers, he recorded a 7.65 ERA against the New York Yankees.
The difference between the two pitchers is startling. CC figures to do very well against the L.A. Dodgers on Friday night while New York’s offense, which averages 5.41 runs per game and bats .277 as a team, should punish Padilla.
This one is a no-brainer in my mind. The Yankees are 4 and 1 in their last 5 games. They’ve righted the ship that went off course when they lost 3 games in a row last week. This team is ready to prove how good they are in SoCal.
I don’t believe the Dodgers get close to the Yankees tonight. I’m gong to make a baseball bet on the Yankees on the run line.
MLB Sportsbook Pick: New York Yankees -1 ½ -115
