Royals vs Os – Baseball Game Odds

May 18, 2010

A full slate of evening MLB betting goes Tuesday night with one of the better pitching match-ups occurring at Camden Yards where Zach Greinke and Kevin Millwood will go at it in the final game of these teams abbreviated two-game series.

The Royals picked up the outright road win as +122 underdogs in last night’s game behind a solid outing from RHP Kyle Davies who tossed six innings of two-run ball to hammer out his third win of the season.

Kyle Farnsworth and Blake Wood built the bridge to Joakim Soria in the ninth where the righty locked down his 10th save of the season.

Kansas City moved to 8-13 on the road (+$96) while the Orioles fell to a disappointing 7-12 (-$458) in their own ball park.

Kansas City Royals (15-24, -$297) vs. Baltimore Orioles (12-27, -$1105)

  • TV/Radio Broadcast: FOX – Kansas City, MASN2, XM

MLB Odds

Kansas City Royals -1.5 +125 -130 (Zach Greinke – R)

Baltimore Orioles +1.5 -145 +110 (Kevin Millwood – R)

Total 7.5 O Even 7.5 U -120

Zach Greinke enters his ninth start of the season sporting some incredible numbers – 2.73 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, 49 hits, 16 ER’s, 44 K’s, and 10 BB’s. A quick gander at those stats would suggest he’s won more than he’s lost this MLB betting season.

That just isn’t the case however as he stands 1-4 overall, and the Royals have won just two of his eight overall starts. Though the righty has been dominant, his teammates have offered up just 2.88 runs of support in each of his starts.

In a pair of starts against Baltimore last season, Greinke allowed 11 hits and three ER’s while K’ing 13 and walking three through 13 combined IP; KC went 1-1 after the bullpen coughed up a 3-2 lead late in his lone Camden Yards start.

Though Kevin Millwood sports a 3.69 ERA & 1.27 WHIP, he’s yet to win a game this season for the O’s who are 3-5 in his eight starts.

He’s coming off a rocky start at home against Seattle who roughed him up for seven hits (3 HR) and five ER’s through 6.2 IP. If not for a five-run bottom of the 8th inning, Millwood was in line to lose his fifth start of the season.

He’s 6-4 with a 4.23 ERA & 1.44 WHIP in 13 career starts against the Royals, and has been at his best at home where he sports a 3.25 ERA & 1.08 WHIP through 27.2 total IP.

MLB Insider Tip: Including last night’s win, the Royals are just 5-11 their L/16 trips to Baltimore.

That said; I’m very much impressed with the way the Royals have been playing ever since upper management axed Trey Hillman and handed the club over to former Milwaukee Brewers manager Ned Yost; they’re 3-1 since the move was made and the offense has averaged scoring 4.75 RPG.

That’s huge when looking to back Greinke this season since he’s thrown lights out but has been hampered by his teammates inability to push runs across the plate.

With the Royals 6-2 in his L/8 road starts vs. teams with a sub .500 overall record, look for the Royals to continue their fine play and sweep this short two-game MLB betting series before heading to Cleveland to take on the Tribe.

My MLB Prediction: Kansas City Royals (Greinke)
