Baseball Odds: Kansas City +1.5, Cleveland -1.5, Game Total: 9 runs
The Indians have strung together nine consecutive wins at home and look to notch their tenth tonight. Cleveland has been hitting lights-out at Progressive Field, with the team batting average at
295 while putting up 6.1 average runs per game.
In the first two games of this series with the Royals, the Indians have scored 16 runs to Kansas City’s six.
Tonight the Indians send Fausto Carmona to the stripe. Holding the first position in the Indians starting rotation, Carmona has struggled so far this season. With an average ERA of 5.76, the second worst among Cleveland starters, Carmona has given up 29 hits in his five starts. With just one win on the season, the right-hander has los three games while allowing 20 runs.
However, tonight’s starter for the Royals has not fared much better. Kansas City will look to Kyle Davies. Davies also has only one win in five starts, with a high ERA of 6.23. He has given up 34 hits and 19 runs while striking out 19.
MLB Pitching Matchup:
K. Davies (1-2, ERA 6.23) vs. F. Carmona (1-3, ERA 5.76)
Carmona is 1-4 against the Royals, but has improved his game at home since his season opener. Since that loss, Carmona is 1-0 with seven hits allowed at home.
Davies is 0-2 with an ERA of 4.63 against the Indians. Despite pitching solid against the Rangers last weekend, Davies got a no-decision in the Royals loss. Kansas City jumped off to a hot start on the season, but has dropped eight of its last 10 matchups.
However, the Royals have a solid lineup. Led by Jeff Francoeur, along with Alex Gordon and Mike Aviles, Kansas City should be able to find ample opportunities to score tonight against a rusty pitcher.
But don’t forget the Cleveland bats, as Grady Sizemore has extended his hitting streak to five games. With less-than-stellar pitching tonight, look for lots of hits and a high-scoring affair. Even with the game total set at nine runs, these two teams have strong offenses capable of putting scores on the board.
The best bet in the baseball odds tonight is over the nine run game total.
