The Redhawks haven’t received much pub or notoriety within the MAC this season, but Coach Mike Haywood’s outfit still holds an outside chance of actually getting to the conference championship game provided it wins out and topples the Temple Owls in their season finale.

At 4-1 in conference play with football odds wins over Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Central Michigan, and Buffalo, Miami (OH) needs Ohio to fall at Temple next Tuesday to have any kind of shot.

First things first – tonight’s match-up with Bowling Green is of utmost importance to Zac Dysert and the Redhawks who enter the game a winner after bouncing back from its 34-13 home pounding against the Bobcats by winning and covering at Buffalo 21-9 as short 2.5-point road favorites.

For a team that gets little to no production from its ground attack (#119 at 62.8 YPG), you have to come away impressed with the aforementioned Dysert who enters tonight’s battle having already thrown for 2185 yards and 12 TDs to help lead the nation’s 32nd ranked passing attack (259.1 YPG).

Unfortunately, he’s thrown just as many INTs as TDs, so he should be on high alert when throwing into a Falcons secondary that’s picked off opposing quarterbacks 13 times this season.

With the Falcons most adept at limiting opponent’s passing games, yards could be pretty hard to come by for the Redhawks who have only managed an average of 321.9 YPG (#98) to date.

Ever since securing an outright underdog win over Marshall at home back in Week 3, Bowling Green has managed to win just one game since coming in the form of a 17-14 outright road win and cover at Central Michigan before heading into its bye last week.

Though they’ve struggled to post SU wins, they enter tonight’s crucial MAC battle winners in five of nine tries against the college football odds.

NCAA Football Insider Tip: The Falcons snapped a three-game losing streak at the hands of the Redhawks last season winning 35-14 on the road as four-point Oxford favorites.

The victory moved the road team to an impressive 5-1 ATS the L/6 in the series, while in the process moved the underdog to 4-1 against the football odds in the L/5 overall.

As much as I’d like to think Miami (OH) bounces back with a much needed win in this spot, I just don’t trust them. The Falcons have covered 10 of their L/11 November tussles and enter this one feeling good and loose after shocking the Chippewas their last time out.

Instead, we’ll look to the total since I don’t foresee many points being scored. Both these schools are ranked last and second to last in the country in rushing the football.

However, the Falcons have forced many turnovers defensively which is a bad match for Dysert. Though they haven’t proven to be able to run the ball, I firmly expect the Redhawks to make it a point to try to do so considering BG has allowed a whopping 207.7 YPG on the ground to date.

With Miami (OH) looking to control the flow of this game with its offense and BG struggling to produce points much like it has all season, look for tonight’s MAC East football odds tussle to be of the lower scoring variety.

My NCAA Football Predictions: Miami (OH)/Bowling Green under 50.5
