There’s nothing like Del Mar in the summer. Even on what some might consider an “off” day, like Sunday, horses line up for a high level stakes race.

You Lift Me Up – - 5/2 fair online betting odds

You Lift Me Up was sensational first time under jockey Joel Rosario when almost wiring the Grade II Beverly Hills Handicap. Now, she gets the rail, Rosario again, and should get an easy lead on the front end. A wire to wire victory is not out of the question.

Theodora – - 7/2 fair online betting odds

When John Shirreffs saddles a horse at Del Mar, horseplayers had better pay attention. Shirreffs is very high on this filly as he threw her into a Grade II in only her third lifetime race. Bought for over $300,000, Shirreffs is looking for Theodora to turn into a major player in the SoCal filly and mare races this summer and in the fall. A victory to start things out in this minor stakes race would help her get to that level.

Bel Air Sizzle – - 5/1 fair online betting odds

This classy four year old out of the Barry Abrams barn has the ability to really do something in this race if the pace sets up for her terrific closing kick. She could be tough in the lane, but often times, too often, she ends up just short. She definitely belongs in the exotics but a win seems out of reach.

Wagering Strategy

You Lift Me Up looks awfully tough in this. I will bet her to win and place. I will bet her on top of Theodora and Bel Air Sizzle in an exacta. I will reverse for less. I will put Bel Air Sizzle, Theodora and You Lift Me Up into a trifecta box.
