Purdue Ends Regular Season against Iowa in NCAAB Sportsbook Betting

March 5, 2011

The thoughts of how good the Purdue Boilermakers could have been with star player Robbie Hummel this season have stopped overshadowing the undeniable success they’ve enjoyed without him. On the heels of rising stars JaJuan Johnson and E’Twaun Moore, Purdue continues to be one of the best values in NCAAB sports betting and can end their regular season by throttling Iowa and keeping Wisconsin off their tail.

Since Michigan State’s fall from grace this season, the Big Ten has become a three horse race led by the top-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. No.6 Purdue trails them with a 14-3 SU conference record, putting them one game ahead of Wisconsin in the Big Ten and two games ahead of them overall. Purdue has to keep momentum in their favor, especially since they have been playing at such a high level.

Most teams in the Big Ten don’t get enough credit as national title contenders, but that’s probably just how Purdue wants it. They are a matchup nightmare for both teams, especially as Moore and Johnson combine for a 39.0 points per game and 13.3 rebounds per game. It also helps that Purdue has dominated this matchup.

#6 Purdue Boilermakers (25-5) vs. Iowa Hawkeyes (10-19)

Saturday, March 5th — Carver-Hawkeye Arena — 4:00pm EST

NCAAB Sportsbook Betting Trends:

• Purdue is 7-0 SU in their last 7 games

• Purdue is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games

• Iowa is 4-4 ATS in last 8 games

• Iowa is 0-6 SU in last 6 games

The Boilermakers are 8-2 SU in their last ten games with Iowa but heavy sportsbook betting lines have tipped the scaled in Iowa’s favor. The Hawkeyes are 3-2 ATS in their last five games against Purdue at home, and are 5-5 ATS in their last ten games against them overall.

That shouldn’t however, outweigh how bad Iowa has been lately. The fact that this game is a road endeavor for the Boilermakers should even out the line somewhat. Iowa is just 2-6 SU and 4-4 ATS in their last eight games, losing their last six games straight up and their last three against the spread as well. Iowa simply doesn’t have the nuts to hold a candle to the Boilermakers.

Tread lightly around this line. Purdue has been a stellar team on the whole, but they have the oddsmakers’ attention and are just 2-4 ATS in their last six road games. With a -19.5 point spread favoring Purdue at home earlier this year, you can expect the oddsmakers to slam this game with another generous handicap so be careful in sportsbook betting this weekend when you attack the line.

Furious Sportsbook Betting Picks – Purdue -13.5 or less (Iowa otherwise)
