Pro Basketball betting Odds – Bucks at Sixers

November 1, 2009

The only team to take the floor yet this season, the Milwaukee Bucks (34-48 SU, 41-39-2 ATS, 44-37-1 O/U) will be looking to get off to a solid start in their regular season opener tonight while the Philadelphia 76ers (0-1 SU, 0-1 ATS 1-0 O/U) will be looking to win their home opener after falling to their Orlando Magic 120-106 in their first game of the regular season on Wednesday night.

Here is a look at the key trends and NBA Betting Odds for this matchup, followed by my in-depth analysis and expert NBA Free Picks.

Analysis: The Milwaukee Bucks suffered a slew of injuries last season, most significantly to stars, Michael Redd and Andrew Bogut, which helped them miss the playoffs the third straight season in 2008-09.

The team also lost much of its offense this past offseason as Richard Jefferson, Charlie Villanueva and Ramon Sessions are all now playing for other teams.

While the Bucks added veteran guard Carlos Delfino and forward Hakim Warrick (11.6 ppg with Memphis last season) and drafted point guard Brandon Jennings with the 10th overall, the Bucks are clearly going to be a work in progress.

The Bucks will also be without last season’s No. 1 pick, small forward Joe Alexander, who could miss up to three months with a hamstring injury.

The 76ers are looking to rebound from their loss to Orlando but got just eight points from starters Andre Iguoadala and Elton Brand. However, the team has two gifted young players in forward/center Marreese Speights who scored a career-high 26 points off the bench to lead the Sixers and starting forward Thaddeus Young who also scored just eight points in the opener.

I like the Sixers to bounce back from their loss to the powerful Orlando Magic under new head coach Eddie Jordan at home in this contest.

Both teams have recorded some pitiful ATS wagering statistics coming into this contest, but the Bucks have gone a dismal 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Philadelphia and a pitiful 0-5 ATS in their last five games against Philadelphia overall.

With the favorite going a consistent 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings between these Eastern Conference rivals, I say play the Sixers to cover the spread, but I think the Over is just as good a play in this NBA parlay pick.

NBA Free Picks: Sixers -6½ Points/Over 191 Total Points
